Now that one looks BITCHEN! but not for $90. I like SEs if they can be justified. ive only bought a few... GTA4, kind of worthit. FO3 not so worth it. Fable 2, for all the stuff you get and for only $10 extra yeah, worth it. I also preordered SF4 SE. It looks like it is worth it, with the comic and movie and what not.

In the UK, collectors editions are not that much mroe expensive than the normal edition, so it is most of the time worth paying that extra £4/$6 for what you get.

I saw the lunchbox edition of fallout 3 for PC today for cheaper than i bought my standard copy. I was annoyed =(
See, now that's reasonable. Even with ALL the extra stuff RE5 comes with, I can almost guarantee it was cheaply made and cost Capcom next to nothing. There is no reason to tack on another $30 for a tin case and paper thin bag.

At least it's a collectors edition bonus from the manufacturer, not one of those 'pre-order and get' deals from Gamestop. Those things get shanked by the employees before the game comes out. Collectors editions don't really bother me. If you don't want one, don't get one. It's not like they're releasing only a special edition for $90, and no standard $60 edition. Those that want the special edition can get it. Those that don't, don't have to.

I think nowadays there are far too many so called *special editions* or *collectors editions' coming out. Nearly every second game released gets a collectors edition and in my opinion thats to much. To much cheap plastic for too much money. Also-at least for me- all these extra large boxes become a storage problem. Im a game collector and like to present my games in shelves and most of the SE boxes are way too big so that I have to put them somewhere else. In the end it comes down to the fact that I might be a nerdish gamer-but Im not nerd enough to put a big daddy between my cups, nail my Wii gun to the wall and take the GTA4 duffle bag to the gym.

If they made the messenger bag look like the box art I'd buy it otherwise I could go out and buy a black bag for like $5-10 and a silver pen and do it myself.

I know the feeling, spotted the collectors edition of Fallout 3 for 360 and PS3 for £19.99. Why they were selling it for that I don't know. I'd only I hadn't bought the regular collection already... That wasn't as annoying as the time Gamestation had a draw on for a life-size Little Sister. So naturally, I asked about enteoutring. The shop assistant told me I needed a membership card that I could only get my trading in some games. Unfortunately, I had traded in all my unwanted games not that long before that and they never even mentioned anything regarding a membership card. So, thanks to the clever folks at Gamestation, I missed out on my one in a million chance to win a Little Sister. Bah!

I have only twice bought the collectors edition of anything. Once was because the used collector's edition was cheaper than the new regular edition, and there were no used regular. The second time was DMC3, in which the gameplay actually changed, adding a new playable character, boss fights, and Bloody Palace.

A behind the scenes bonus disc
I dont understand why every "collectors edition" game bundle has one of these. Theres nothing I can imagine being less value for money then watching some nerd talk you through the process of coding a game. Least I dont have to pay extra to ignore the behind the scenes features on a DVD; which in some instances are at least interesting.

I wondered if anyone was going to comment on that analogy. Thanks for making my night a little brighter. ^_^

I bring my lunch to work in my Fallout 3 lunch box several times a week.
Yeah, but that can't be good for your food. How many rads/second do you get for that? Seems like an awful risk to me.

Depends on the content. Like all that crap in RE5, so what. A steel case, a bag, a figure, a bonus disk, a necklace, and the figure.

Now, Fallout 3's collector's was great. Lunchbox, game, bobblehead, artbook, and 30 minute "Making of..." video. Worth $80. $70 for PC.

So, does it match? Figure for bobblehead, Lunchbox is both bag and steel case, bonus disk vs. making of disk, and the necklace versus the artbook. Note the artbook has 20 different pip-boy designs. And that's not even the Survival! Survival had all that plus a Pip-Boy 3000 (A model) watch with stand!

Make it worth the $30 extra quid.

The God of War 2 special edition was great. The extras on it were nearly as long as the extended LOTR trilogy :D
I don't think there's a collector's edition of that game.
EDIT:
Well I'll be damned. There is one. It's just that America didn't get a collector's edition. All American copies had two discs.

Collector's editions are only useful if they are useful. By that, I mean that there should be a use besides making collecting dust on a shelf. You watch a bonus DVD once, maybe twice, a figurine collects dust on a shelf, and the neat necklaces and keychains; who actually wears bonus keychains? I have three on my shelf, one from Death Note, one from Black Lagoon, one from Heroes, and I never wear the bloody things.
On the other hand, the Fallout 3 lunchbox was mentioned as a perfect example of a useful extra, and apparell is another good idea, provided it fits everyone(ie. hats).
And tell me, how many people remember the Halo 3 Cat Helmet?

I like to think logically, and if the reward doesn't justify the price, I usually don't buy it. Gears of War2 I bought limited 'cause I got a free remote controlled tank with it worth thirty bucks, so I gained ten bucks from the deal.

I also collect video games and memorabilia, so with RE5, being it's popularity, I will probably go limited. I like to wait for price drops, or to find used limiteds with all the bells and whistles in good condition, and it's usually worth the wait. The bag itself you have to figure is worth at least $30 bucks. Add the disk, figure, etc, you're looking at a decent re-sell value if opened.

I play into my own fandom, too. The reasons I buy RE5 limited is not because I'm a fan-girl of it. If a game comes out that I'm nuts over, I'll go limited. If it's profitable or a good re-sell value because other people want it, why not?

I like collectors editions, depending on the game, i find it interesting to go through the behind the scenes interviews, the tin case, art books, and the occasional extra content.

RE5's content sounds worth the money, if you have an interest about that stuff, if you don't, just buy the standard version.

poor people should stop standing around QQ about their money problems and get a job to solve them =/.
