Well, it looks like the teachers are going to go on strike. Where the hell does that leave me?

A few days ago the colleges in Ontario started sending out offers of admission. My preferred course was Computer Engineering Technology at Algonquin College in Ottawa. I just checked the application website. Early acceptance to EVERYTHING I applied to!

I'm probably going to be living with my relatives in Ottawa. That means I won't have to live in what's essentially a hotel room for three years.

Any other Escapists get accepted recently? Anybody going to Algonquin?

EDIT: Posted this on page three, but I'm putting it here so everyone sees it.

To clarify: The course I'm taking is basically programming. The full title is Computer Engineering Technology - Computing Science.

Due to many, many, many recommendations here and elsewhere, I'm looking into residence. And thanks everyone for the congrats.

Bad idea living with relatives, one of the things I loved about going to university was getting out of the family home for 4 years. Grats by the way.

Unfortunately, it's still Computer Engineering.
lol gg

OT: Congrats! I'll restate what everyone else said, and suggest living on-campus. It's much more convenient and you get to meet lots more people...I was friends with my freshman hall for all 4 years, we shared a suite my junior year, and we got on the same hall senior year. Good times.

I don't see them so much as to be sick of them yet. Usually, I only visit them around Christmas/Thanksgiving. They've got a really big house, plenty of space for me.

And thanks :D

Why move with relatives? You will have your own space to bring people back to.
gzbtw.

Congrats on getting into Algonquin. I nearly went there before sticking with Fleming.

Congrats.

Living with relatives is fine, but you might be better off living in a dorm room for the time you are there.

Between then and now, try for every scholarship you can get your hands on. Even if you do not think you qualify for it, try anyway. If you get enough scholarships, you mat not need to work while you are there.

Gratz, but wont you get a bit lonely in your relatives house?

Part of the fun of living in accommodation is that theres loads of other people there too, its a great way to meet people and makes socializing very very easy :D

Congratz, dude. I'm in my fourth semester right now for Audio Engineering, so yeah.

Don't underestimate the awesomeness of the dorms, btw. It's a great opportunity to meet new people and experience something different. I'm moving in with my fiance after this year, but I've been living in the dorms for two years and I kind of like it.

I got accepted into the IB. Easiest thing ever.
If you mean International Baccalaureate, good luck with dying. Most stressful years of my life.

OT: Congarts. I was accepted last year by all three colleges I applied to. I live on campus in an over-glorified hotel room, but thankfully I can go home for the weekends (I live forty minutes away). And, despite what people are saying, go live with your relatives--it's cheaper that way.

Reject any nonsense you get from your escapist compatriots and accept every accolade! Well done!

I have finished my undergraduate and have begun my graduate work. If your experience is anything like my experience... hold on tight and don't miss a second.

nope. I'm in my second quarter of college. I got accepted to all 3 that I applied for but had to choose based on quality for money.

Oh yeah, while it was easy getting in, I'm not so optimistic about surviving.

Still, it could be worse. I could be one of those idiotic wannabe teenie boppers from the slum who wear cheap baggy pants and fake bling bling.

For some reason those dumbasses chose "Children and Freetime" as their college course.

That will not get you into the university. It will only get you a job at a pizzeria.

I will laugh at them on the reunion.

Gratz on getting in...but really? staying with relatives? You might wanna rethink that.

Me and a few mates went straight into a house, rather than the campus or dorms. Worked out a lot better

Haha, yeah, good luck with that again. Just remember, death is not an excuse for failure to turn in assignments. You will still be failed.

And true, but I really don't see that as "worse." Not everyone is suited for university. And university/IB does not imply success. For all you know, you might have the next Walt Disney or Bill Gates (neither of whom actually finished college) in your class, who will laugh at you for eternity instead.
