The best bit about my horrible 1 year of Uni was meeting some awesome friend in the same corridor as me. Honestly, living on campus will help you feel more at home than you think.

A few days ago the colleges in Ontario started sending out offers of admission. My preferred course was Computer Engineering Technology at Algonquin College in Ottawa. I just checked the application website. Early acceptance to EVERYTHING I applied to!

I'm probably going to be living with my relatives in Ottawa. That means I won't have to live in what's essentially a hotel room for three years.
Congratulations! Have some pie and celebrate.

Meh, Dorm life is part of the college experience. It's got some great perks, especially location. Nothing beats being a five minute walk from any of your classes. Just be sure if you do get a dorm that it's not the cheap dorm. Every college has at least one building that is complete crap. A definate bonus is if your rooms all have a shower and toilet. Sharing those with everyone else on your floor is a shitty experience. People do some gross stuff when they are drunk.

Co-op life is also a decent choice. Had a few friends go this route. Be careful with this route, because some of these people can get a bit over protective.

If you can afford to live off campus, I reccomend that you find some good friends and rent a house together. It's good practice for after you graduate, and it's pretty awesome to live with people you actually enjoy hanging out with for a change. Family might let you live there for free (or cheap, at least), but friends actually enjoy the same type of music and tv shows, and they don't look at you strange when you bring a girl home.

Oh, go easy on the booze. Week 1 in the fall is usually packed all over the campus, but by the time week 4 rolls around you are seeing alot of empty chairs in your classes. I heard it said that something like 30 percent of incoming freshmen fail out before their first year due to partying too hard. Seeing that you are applying to be a computer engineer, that probably won't be too much of a party but... stay focused. Have fun, but remember that you are there to get a degree, not kill off your brain cells (which some might say happens anyways while sleeping through those classes).

I got accepted into the IB. Easiest thing ever.
If you mean International Baccalaureate, good luck with dying. Most stressful years of my life.

OT: Congarts. I was accepted last year by all three colleges I applied to. I live on campus in an over-glorified hotel room, but thankfully I can go home for the weekends (I live forty minutes away). And, despite what people are saying, go live with your relatives--it's cheaper that way.
Oh yeah, while it was easy getting in, I'm not so optimistic about surviving.

Still, it could be worse. I could be one of those idiotic wannabe teenie boppers from the slum who wear cheap baggy pants and fake bling bling.

For some reason those dumbasses chose "Children and Freetime" as their college course.

That will not get you into the university. It will only get you a job at a pizzeria.

I will laugh at them on the reunion.
Haha, yeah, good luck with that again. Just remember, death is not an excuse for failure to turn in assignments. You will still be failed.

And true, but I really don't see that as "worse." Not everyone is suited for university. And university/IB does not imply success. For all you know, you might have the next Walt Disney or Bill Gates (neither of whom actually finished college) in your class, who will laugh at you for eternity instead.
But I have the gift of criticism!

No matter how successful one gets, no matter how important or popular that person is, I can tear them apart with my words!

Perhaps they have a chance of becoming something, but they could at least pick a real college course. Getting a decent job on high-school grades alone is no easy thing in Sweden.

I got early acceptance to civil engineering when I applied a couple years back. I was proud of myself then like you are now.

I'm already in college, but got some offer for some honor society or something... Think they just wanted money... but it was pretty funny since earlier that day we had to read some story about some girl who got rejected from it.

And then they tear you apart with hired muscle. Gifts are only gifts when you know how to use them, otherwise they have the ability to turn into severe pain. Or, in the case of Mozart, into death (granted, lead poisoning had something to do with it, too, but that's not what I'm getting at here).

That's true about anywhere, but it's their life, their choosing. If they want to slack off, fine. They know the risks. Even if they don't, it's something they'll have to live with or fix on their own. To imply that they're doing the minimum amount of work that they're capable of doing is a narrow-minded, illogical fallacy held by "smart" people.

Damn... Well at least I can sue them afterward.

Although I think it's more "Their life, societies choosing" sometimes. I don't know, it just seems that a lot of youths today follow stereotypes.

Oh well, at least I can brag about that I have a higher post count than them on this site that they have never heard of! That will show them, right?

Sue? What do you mean, 'sue?' No one saw anything around here. *places sack of money on the table* Right?

Meh, society changes. People know that. Yet they still make those decisions knowing (maybe) that that's the life they have to live with. And who doesn't follow some sort of stereotype today? You have people who follow the popular crowd, the not-affiliated-with-the-popular-crowd subcrowds, and the I-don't-belong-in-any-type-of-crowd-therefore-I'm-unique subcrowd, not to mention the subsubcrowds that underscore the subcrowds, and the subsubsubcrowds that underscore the subsubcrowds, etc. It also brings up the issue that people are generally more nuanced than what other people give them credit for.

And yes, they will totally be jealous of that. I know I am!

I don't know what crowd I'm in... I think it is the "I'm an individual!" subsubcrowd.

Hurray! Finally, all those days of neglecting my family and friends have finally payed off!

Good, good...*drops the doomsday device; picks it up, drops another sack of money* You didn't see anything, either.

Probably. That's the subcrowd I fall into, into the subsubcrowd of people who don't like a lot of modern music and play a lot of videogames while being an introvert. See? I'm unique!...Or maybe not. As a T-shirt once said, "You are unique. Just like everyone else."

[borat] High five! [/borat]

[british] That has no relevance to the discussion at hand. *activates the Doomsday Device* Now prepare for a world bathed in Twilight!

Any last words? [/british]
