And why would you want to destroy the period of half-light between sunset and dusk?
Ah, but I wanted you to want me to make the bomb. Don't you see the beauty of it? I banked on your brash, upstart nature, your desire for me to make said bomb, and the hatred you sow for Twilight so I could destroy it forever, AND IT WORKED!!! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!! The universe was just a bonus.
But, knowing M. Night Shamallamalayalan, he'll ruin it by throwing a pointless twist into the plot. And by not destroying the universe without the use of special effects.
Actually, the plot twist would be that we're already living in a world of Twilight, and that we can't destroy it. I mean, he does make horror movies, after all.

Ah, I see. You know what's a good cure for tiredness? Adrenaline. Sadly, though, I am out of paste. You will not have to deal with any more mutant fangirls....tonight.
Congrats! There's also nothing wrong about wanting to settle in with some relatives instead of on campus, especially in this economic climate. My 20 year old sister moved back in with us when she switched to a university in our hometown.
To clarify: The course I'm taking is basically programming. The full title is Computer Engineering Technology - Computing Science.
To everyone: Due to many, many, many recommendations here and elsewhere, I'm looking into residence. And thanks everyone for the congrats.
To Heart of Darkness and Hubilub: Nooo! My thread! D:

A few days ago the colleges in Ontario started sending out offers of admission. My preferred course was Computer Engineering Technology at Algonquin College in Ottawa. I just checked the application website. Early acceptance to EVERYTHING I applied to!
I'm probably going to be living with my relatives in Ottawa. That means I won't have to live in what's essentially a hotel room for three years.
Any other Escapists get accepted recently? Anybody going to Algonquin?
Is computer engineering what you need to go into game development? My parents want me to stay away because I did so horribly at Pure Math 30 that they think I should go as far away from math as possible. My sister's friend tried to get into development but said it was incredibly hard and they want you to be able to program too, computer engineering. He ended up going into something which is apparently easier to get into: (based on the fact that he's doing it) developing secret missile guidance systems for the military at the University of Calgary. Can you help me out here? Do you need computer engineering for game development, and do you need a lot of high level, boring math for it? The kind where the teachers writes on the board and talks until you drop? I would really like to know this.
Yes, Computer Engineering Tech will prepare you for game dev (as a programmer) but there are more specialized courses (one of which I got accepted to) that would be better for you to take.
Yes, there is a lot of math, but it's more about logic. I recommend learning a programming language like C++ or Java to see if you like it, there are tons of free tutorials out there. It can be hard to get started and very overwhelming at first, but if you keep at it you'll get better. DO NOT use an IDE at first; learn on Notepad++.
If your current school is offering some kind of programming course, take it.

Congrats!
I'm an Algonquin Alumni (Advertising and General Arts). I also live in our Nation's Capital (since I was 10). Good school.
I found a job immediately as I went from intern to a permanent Graphic Design position, and am now about to start a Graphic Design job with Ottawa Bluesfest.
Wow, congrats to you too! I think it would be awesome working for the Bluesfest. What is the residence like at Algonquin?

Having completed two bachelor's degrees and law school, I offer you the following advice:
1) Live at home if you can stand it. The biggest problem you will have is juggling school and work. If you live at home, your expenses will be minimized. That means you don't have to stress about money and can focus on doing well. Your parents will realize that you are an adult now and should give you leeway. Also, enough of your friends will be on their own so you should have many places to go and get away when you need to.
2) Do your best to ask around about different professors. The same class can be very different depending on who is teaching. Make sure you get a good one...and that doesn't necessarily mean the easiest.
3) Plan out your courses at least a year in advance. You don't want to be stuck having a crappy schedule. Some courses are taught ONLY at specific times. So if you don't plan far ahead, you may wind up having to take extra semesters because you can't get all the classes you need. Or you may wind up having one class at 8 am, one at 12:30, and one at 2:30. That sucks!
4) Don't bother with a lot of organizations unless they are specific to your major. They take a lot of time and the ones that aren't specific to your major won't really add anything important to your resume.
5) If you plan to go to graduate school, DO NOT (I repeat, DO NOT) drop classes. Schools lose money when students drop classes and even more when they drop out completely. When a graduate school sees that you dropped a lot of classes, they will be hesitant to accept you.
