My ex-wife was colorblind. Her kind was really rare, as is my understanding, she had a hard time seperating yellow and blue.

I just checked the mayo clinic's website. Says that something like 5.6% of men are colorblind and only 1% of women. So there ya go.

You do know that it's 75% of all his male friends. If he has 4 male friends it's less amazing.
4 people meet, and 3 of them happen to be colourblind? Still pretty unlikely.
It is unlikely, I was meaning my close friends which is like 8 guys, and 6 of us are colorblind.

Also, to clarify, Red/green colorblindness is the ailment, so it's not just trying to notice the difference between pink and salmon.

I was just wondering how uncommon colorblind females actually are. I'm a colorblind male and out of all my male friends probably %75 of us are colorblind, but I have yet to meet a colorblind female in my life.

So if you're a colorblind girl, shout it out!
what is it even like to be colour blind anyway, like don't you see some colours but not others

Awww, Miss Kass already explained everything perfectly...
Now I don't get a chance to be a smartass.

But to reiterate:
Yes, females can of course be colour blind.
Yes, it's less likely because BOTH your X chromosomes'd have to be defective whereas males only have ONE X-chromosome.
We guys don't have a backup, if you will.

I've met all of 1 person who's colourblind.

To OP: 75%? Jay-zus! Do you live near a nuclear plant or something?

I don't know any colorblind women, but I know two colorblind guys. They both said "fuck you" when I asked them to play Candyland with me.

Rutger Hauer is colorblind. That makes you guys badass.

Okay, maybe not, but still, it jumped at me when I first found out("What? The guy from Bladerunner, The Hitcher, and Blind Fury is colorblind?!").

Just luck of the draw I guess. I think the percentage of guys who are colorblind is somewhere around like 1 in 4 or something, I know it's really high.
WHAT?? You are the first person I have ever met that is colorblind. Seriously, 1 in 4? Do you live around a nuclear power plant or something?

Edit:

I swear to God, I wrote my comment before I had read your post. I'm not ripping you off.

It's just nearly impossible to tell the difference between certain colors, like blue and purple or red and green or black and navy blue.

Fun stuff like that.

It is, but still entirely possible.

I have never seen color normally so I couldn't say for sure, but a doctor described it to me one time as turning the tint on your tv all the way down, the way it just kind of makes all colors bland and faded looking.
