I just read another thread about annoying popup ads on the excapist(I have not had any myself, must be google chrome blocking them) and people got put on probation for suggesting using an ad blocker or just saying that their built-in firefox blocker was working.
YET ANOTHER person completely misunderstands how ads work. I wish people would take an economics class... (If this seems irrelevant, then that just proves that you don't understand how important ads are.)
Also, we have pop-up ads? Huh. I've never gotten the "pop-up blocked" message that Firefox normally gives me...
I'll assume that what I'm doing is OK, but it's got me thinking. I have an ad blocker for my browser, and it's always on, but I'm a memeber of the Publisher's Club, which would mean I wouldn't get ads even without the blocker. Is that fine, or against the rules?
If The Escapist is still making money at the end of the day then that's fine. The whole point of this being against the rules is that promoting or admitting to using adblock can cause the site to lose money.
I got suspended in that thread! although there is a loop hole in the rules you CAN remove the adds by removing Flash Player BUT that would mean you cant watch vids on the escapist (or any other site). I,m not that bothered by ads on the escapist (I started using a adblocker because the ad,s on youtube started getting ridiculous) I added the escapist to the exception list (that means the adds are still shown on the escapist but not on other sites)
