With DC, anything before Infinite Crisis is apparently non-canon these days, and even then it seems a lot of post-Crisis comics have been rendered non-canon also. I may be very wrong on this, but I get the impression DC is pretty bad with continuity errors. Regardless, I'm liking things so far. I checked out some of the Batman graphic novels and am reading through 20 year old Flash comics.
Not only do things get canon/non canon pretty quickly, as far as I can tell DC storylines are relatively hard to follow, since there are various crossovers and I-don't-know-what. Pretty confusing for beginners.

Speaking of which *raises hand* I am one too. If you forget about Carl Barks' Duck-comics and a variety of french classics (the adventures of Tintin etc.) I never was that much into comic books...
I just recently started to get really interested into the whole DC multiverse, so now I have read the Green Lantern: Rebirth graphic novel and am in the middle of Flash: Rebirth. GL is really great, not getting confused by all the randomly mentioned facts is hard though.

Wolverine and Deadpool comics litter my shelf, along with a full set of Gears of War comics. Trying to find [PROTOTYPE] comics but to no success.

I haven't read them in a while, I used to read C&H, VG cats, XKCD and a few more.
A lot of my friends have started their own comic strips, they are actually pretty good.

Atm I read the Knights of the Old Republic comic books. They're actually very good :p Well the first, what, 3 books were amazing! Then it feels like they're running out of ideas to fill out the books. So they just meander around nothing. Shame, the first three are awesome.
I've read most of the KOTOR comics, those are pretty good. Though there are times I feel they're trying too hard to reference the game. It's as if they're saying "Oh hey, remember THIS person!? Well we have them too, look see?"

Sandman and Lucifer. They're both quite good.

I've read an abundance of Alan Moore as well.

Also i've been reading some Batman. Arkham Asylum [the graphic novel] is excellent.

Big fan of The Punisher but I'll read almost anything once. If I like the art, I'll read it twice!

I'm a Marvel fan myself - pretty much grew up on their titles. I haven't been keeping up mainly due to the price, and the fact that reading an entire story arc requires purchasing multiple books. I really wish there weren't so many different versions of X-Men, Spider-Man, etc. That being said, I really love the direction Marvel has taken ever since Civil War. Once in a while I'll also read some DC works.

As for favorites (in no particular order): X-Men, X-Force, Iron Man, Batman, Superman, Spider-Man, Captain America.

I don't read a huge amount of 'Comics' I prefer Manga. I do enjoy to read old comics though, just because they are rather sort of fun. You know what I mean?
