The title says it all, you have just been asked a question or heard a comment where the opportunity to be a troll is just too great. Mine comes from a rage comic that played out like this:

Wife/girlfriend: If I got ugly, would you leave me?
Husband/Boyfriend: I'm still here aren't I?

I am so going to do that if I get the chance.

That is not really "TROLL MODE".
TROLL MODE would be to go over to your Wife/girlfriend and say something like:
You are ugly and fat but I am still with you. Am I not just the best Husband/boyfriend.

The stuff your talking about is simply joking, and may or may not be mean spirited depending on situation.

I have this thing where I pat people on the head. Apparently very condescending.

Usually accompanied by 'riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight'... right?

Or in my case 'time for your valium, now' ...

More something along the lines of; Who's a good boy.

Ruffle subjects hair for extra effect.

Basically I tend to have to resist a fight fire with fire mentality. If i see something stupid or rude I always want to troll.

I'm confused, is this what makes you want to troll, or is this how you troll?

OT: I don't really have a troll mode, more just I "I totally wish I could slap you right now" mode.

Whenever I get hate messages on Xbox Live because I am a "Sad sniper ****", I can't help but to troll the shit out of him, by messaging him back the most annoying, witty way I can think of. Constantly.

Sometimes you just have to troll when you're playing with some exceptionally gifted ragers in LoL. So hilarious. I don't usually intend to killsteal unless i'm playing the AD Carry in which case they can all fuck right off but when i'm using Amumu's awesome AOE teamfight potential to damage every single one of their team at once (you can just cry on them, it's so fun) some people just fucking rage for no reason... Sorry I just won you the game asshole. A good 'Mumu does that y'know?

I've also started to spam my laugh (bind it to your keyboard, it's amazing) whenever I have a chance now, especially when it's a super cool/noticeable one like say Rengar's or Lux's or Lulu's. It's just funny. I once stopped running from 3 guys during a chase, stood next to a wall, waited them to come close, laughed for a good two seconds then Arcane Shifted over it for teh lulz. Fuckin' Ezreal...

Kha'Zix is the best though, I would say if all his stuff is off CD and he's level 16 he will not die to a 5 man gank. His Leap takes him way too far, he has three speed boosts that turn him invisible and has a huge AOE slow he can fire behind him to stop their chase. Plus Flash natch. I was even slowing myself down by spamming the laugh he's just that good. Underpowered/useless as hell compared to other junglers/tops since his main damage mechanic is unreliable and he is squishy as hell but damn he is so fun.

Listen to the sound effect on his Leap... He pretty much is laughing at people.

Three things get me into troll mode:

1. Racists and homophobes. God help you if you're both.

2. Anyone pushing their opinion as pure, irrefutable fact.

3. Pushing your religion on others, bonus points if it's used to justify homophobia and racism.

I love trolling LoL players who act like complete asses. Funny thing is I always play with 3 other friends in a premade so this one person is talking crap the whole time, we troll him then all 4 of us proceed to report him. Enjoy your ban :D

Ah so you are one of "those" people. :p

Troll bait can be fun. I've camped the Eternal Battleground World PvP jumping puzzle in Guild Wars 2. It is quite fun to listen to the rage.

Don't forget telemarketers. So much comedy potential there. :D

Also, my recipe for instant troll fun times in TF2: Play spy in 2fort. Get dead ringer. Just go out on the landing and stand there, with DR activated. A sniper will eventually hit you, causing the DR to activate. Then go hide behind the wall until it recharges. Repeat forever for all teh lulz. :D

The anti-religious on rants.

Drug users ranting about the benefits of whatever their using, always after they shove it in my face to use too and then get mad that I refuse to help enable their addiction.

People talking politics from an extremely naive or idealistic stand point. Same goes for those talking history from a revisionist view point that is completely inaccurate and they only cling to it to confirm their nationalistic/ethical bias', mainly to do with the Cold War and WWII, especially the nukings.

General rage or misinformed hatred. Usually I just sigh and move on but every now and then there are statements and people that just cry out to be trolled. If I can't think of anything decent I leave them, though.

Basically, any time someone makes a really stupid comment or pulls some crazy, incorrect assumption out of their ass and flames me for it.
Like if I question someone's decision to sell their Wii and buy a 360 when they have a PS3 already, and I get some guy flaming me for being a PS3 fanboy and going on about how shitty the system is and how the 360 is the best.

Generally, I take the high road and make them look like a total dick, but sometimes I can't resist.

Not really a subject, but call centres bring out the troll in me.

"Hello, Mr X? I'm calling from the Incessantly Annoying Company and I was wondering if I could interest you in..."

Fair notice to any and all call centre workers: If you ring me up during my weekends or precious few days off trying to waste my time, I will make it my mission to waste your time.

I once had some poor sod on the phone from a company trying to sell conservatories and I strung this hapless fool along for forty minutes going over every detail of my brand new conservatory. Fella must of thought he had a proper sale on his hands, then he gets to a question he should really have opened with, I suppose: "And how big is your garden, sir?" Which brought the response from me: "I live in a third floor flat, I don't have a garden." Followed immediately by a click as I hang up before he can reply.

You know why they call it an Xbox 360, because when you see it, you turn 360 degrees and walk away from it!111!! hue hue hue hue!!!111oneonezero!

That joke just makes me facepalm.

Oh, and for trolling, it's always a good time to troll. People are too serious, and if I can fuck with them for laughter (even if it's just MY laughter) then it's a job well done.

Also, topic title is spelled wrong. *Trollface*.

Any coherent sentence in English that contains more than ten words with no vowels.

For some reason, whenever I see that, I immediately try to determine where this person lives so that I may proceed to throw a family of skunks through their window.

Followed by a pair of Daystar Clarion's used socks. Don't ask me where those came from - found them on the porch.
