I have trouble exhale-whistling; inhale whistling is passable, though.
I can't crack my knuckles, which is a shame, seeing as I can already pop my wrists and ankles.

This thread is stupid. It's mostly people claiming their laziness/awkwardness makes it impossible to things they don't like or have a bit of a learning curve.

I personally think that anyone can do almost anything with some practice and effort.

Taxes. I suck at it. Every time I get help from something like turbo tax they end up getting more back through returns then I thought I'd get. Nuclear Chemistry, I got it. Taxes, witch magic.

I can't sew things that actually stay together. And forget even trying to use a machine....
How many times have you ended up attaching yourself to the fabric in question? I could maybe sew if I tried, but I unashamedly get my lady to reattach any and all buttons for me.
Ummm....intentionally or not? I had a habit in elementary school of purposefully sewing my fingers together.....but I have sewed myself to fabric more times than not...I don't really know the count though.......

Really? Does that count the 10 years I really tried to learn to sew and the fact that I still can't? No matter how much of a desire I had to learn? Because sometimes it's not laziness/awkwardness or lack of practice/effort. Sometimes it's just something you can't learn.

Making real friends.

Sounds whiny and emo, but yeah. The way I've seen other people interact with there friends is something I never were able to do and I'm not sure if I ever can. The people are friends with are more like well-known acquaintances compared to many friendships I see around me. There's a certain level of intimacy I'm not able to reach. And that really sucks.

For some unknown reason my fingers lack the dexterity to tie knots well.
That's your story, and you're sticking to it, amiright?

:)

I'm not afraid to say I just can't tie knots for shit. Mostly a lack of will to learn how to do it quickly. I can do simple ones if I take the time. Tying my shoes is the only knot I can do with any alacrity at all, though.
Man you have no idea how long I've spent trying to learn to tie knots, for some reason I just can't do it. My dad nearly gave up on teaching me to tie a tie because it took so long for me to learn. I don't have any idea why, my fingers just refuse to cooperate when I need to tie knots.

I can't sing or whistle or have any musical talent at all. I'm a terrible swimmer because of my fear of drowning and I only swim backstroke.

I can only roll my R's when I speak in a Scottish accent.

I couldn't burp properly until I developed stomach problems. Not a huge deal, unless you have stomach bloating and could use the relief....

Personally, I have never, EVER, been able to roll my "r's" like stereotypical hispanic folks do when they shout "Ariba!"
Likewise. I also can't make any tone in French not found in the American dialect. A couple of them I can do in isolation, but not in a word.

Same here.

I've tried for years and it just doesn't happen for me.
I technically can, but compulsive handwashing tends to leave me without any oil on my hands for friction. As a result, I can click once or so in 4-5 tries. Even then, it usually sounds half-assed.

I can't sing in my falsetto, it's more of a wheeze, and I can't whistle either.
My voice just kind of cuts off when I try. Sometimes it feels like I'm going to gag for trying.

God, this thread is making me think of all sorts of things I can't do. It's depressing.

...I can whistle, though. Both ways (lips and teeth). Behold my awesomness?

Then again, one of the main reasons I whistle is because I have difficulty shouting. So I learned to whistle loud to compensate for something else I can't do.

DAMN IT!

I can't read analogue clocks. I've been taught several times & I forget every time. Even for that brief time that I remember, it just confuses me.

Can't swallow pills. Really fucks me over when it comes to taking medicine. I've tried it with water and it still won't go down, the water will. But not the god damn pill I need.
It's pretty tough for me too since I have a strong gag reflex. You've probably been told this before, but if you put it on the tip of your tongue, the act of swallowing should reflex your tongue to pop it into your throat. It helps me sometimes, but big pills still make me choke.

I'm completely incapable of rolling my r's, like the OP. By extension of that, I'm also incapable of lip trills and properly buzzing my lips, which is kinda awkward as a music student, since everyone I talk to seems to know how except for me.

Other than that, I consider myself "container challenged" because of my difficulty opening things and for some reason, I can only snap with my left hand (despite being right-handed for everything else).

I'm not able to really blow bubblegum bubbles. No matter how often I try, I tend to nearly spit the gum out of my mouth more often than not.

My brother also can't seem to roll his 'r's. He likes to tell me that no one cares when he catches me doing it which is kind of funny.

Also, there's the shrill whistle that people can do when they put two fingers in their mouth. I can't manage that either. It's something I've always wanted to be able to do but no dice.

I can't speak another language... Just English and American...

OT: Uh... I'm drawing a blank here... Are doing handstands "common" or something, since I can't do that... (and still can't...)
Also, I can't eat cheeseburgers, despite not being lactose-intolerant... (I consider that a common skill, I guess...)

Everything else I can either do or just haven't tried once just to see if I could do it... (Though, singing and/or dancing I can totally do... and do well, too...)

I guess I don't have the common skill of having a decisive opinion... (Too easy??)

remember shit

i know remembering may not be classed as a skill and a lot of people will claim having a bad memory but despite remembering my, and friends phone numbers from 20 years ago if you give me a 5 digit number to remember and i don't spend the next 30 seconds mumbling it to myself it's gone!

worst part is that bullshit trick you use on little kids to talk behind their back by spelling shit out works on me. so if you were to say "don't tell LeChat but he is a S-T-U-P-I-D P-R-I-C-K" odds are i won't know what you said.
certain combinations of letters or numbers sorta click an i am able to process them into words or remember them but mostly i'm like the guy from momento and stuff just pops outa my head every 5 seconds

I can't think of any common skill I can't do....

I can roll my R's...
I can whistle...
I can swim, drive, snap my fingers (albeit rather pathetically, but it works!)

I would say that I can't dance, but that's only from not having opportunity to prove that I can...

I guess I'll just be Mr. Commonality! If you have any mundane task that requires average results hit me up! haha...
