definatly halo.
theres hackers, campers, noobs, tbagers, mlgs, boosters, betrayers, idiots, achievment only-ers,rank only-ers, clans, jerks, team up on you-ers, im gonna ruin ur day in less than a minuters and im better than u cus of this line here under my rank-ers. i think that was a decent rant. i remember helping all of my friends (and i mean ALL) and then they ALL turned aroun and never played games with me again (well MOST). i also tried to help this guy do campaign on legendary and halfway through i said "hey there something really fun illshow you guys" and he said "im 18 i dont care about fun i only want the achievments" so i booted, muted and... re-routed?... him out of my game

I think the worst part about any gaming community is if you try to change or comment, people HATE you. I play a lot of BC2 and I always comment on the camp-recons on Rush* when we are attacking.

But if you try to point this out or tell them to get moving? People ***** at -you- like you're the bad guy for trying to impose any sort of coherence. I get told daily to "stop whining" when I tell our campers to get off their arses. Now sure, keyboard dictators aren't always fun, but really? Taking to calling people "whiners" for saying "Recons, you need to start attacking or we'll lose" ? When did "whine" become the baseline retort for online games, and when did being a smartass become worse than being completely useless for the team? Thankfully I can smoke-grenade spam them til they get upset, and then tell them to "stop whining". Doesn't ever make them -attack- the objectives, though.

*Rush mode requires the attackers to physically plant (and protect) bombs in the enemy's base and defend them while they explode. So it's obviously a game of... rushing. And attacking. And you have these recons (snipers) who sit in base and rarely if ever move when on the attacking team, which very often leads you to losing while they pad their Kill:Death ratio.

Call of Duty and Halo spring to mind, mainly because all the fucking idiots keep arguing which is better. Fuck's sake, they're both good. Call of Duty and Halo have their own set of pros and cons, doesn't have to be which is better.

Does the community not being able to afford mics count as a problem? Like seriously, it's a tenner, it'd be okay if it was a rare occurrence but I'd say the current ratio would be about 1:4

Which is just not good.
Honestly, given the majority of people that spew bile over mics, its probably a good thing.

(You know its possible for mutes to game, incidentally? It happens. Food for thought.)

UMP 45 YOU DAM GAME BREAKING GUN! Soz, had to say that the MW2 UMP is THE most overpowered gun in that game, I hate it when people I play MW2 and everyone uses it, although to be fair that isnt necessarily the players fault as they could be trying to even the playing field a bit. MW2 also annoys me coz of campers and nuke-boosters who you still get in games despite the fact no-one cares about nukes anymore.

Also Reach annoys me because of people spamming armour lock, again more the games fault than the players, I personally much prefer the Halo 3 multiplayer but only in moderation as the elitists annoy me.

Finally dont know if anyone has said but Halo Wars, I still play this occassionaly but only in 2v2 with a friend, random matching in 2v2 annoys me because a lot of people dont have mics and just try and use 1 unit type which the enemy has already stopped about 5 full-out assaults on. Also any opponent of mine uses very predictable tactics, you can usually tell depending on the leader they play they do it so much its just boring. Rushing gets me as well, it takes no skill at all and is just stupid cos you dont get many points for it and it cant be satisfying.

Camping noobs using ghost pro in cod. Also noobtubers. Srsly infinity ward/trayarch stop adding this shit to your games and add something useful like being able to set different killstreaks for different maps

Camping only works if a fool runs into it over and over.

Can't you just change your killstreaks yourself? Or is that too extreme for you?

OT: I can't really add much here, but if you want to have a good online community, music games are usually a good choice.
True most experienced players know the camping spots so they dont run into it but a newbie player will likely run into them all the time and this will put them off the game. That means less people to play with and less fun

I can change my killstreaks yes but some maps are heavily based around buildings and inside so things like chopper gunner napalm and mortars are useless. If you could swap out your killstreaks like you can your classes when you spawn it would be better for everyone. Or give the option to save certain killstreak setups for each map, it couldhelp helps mw3 go from another shitty clone to a good game in its own right.

TF2. See the Demopan thing for example. It's become more about hats and trading than actually playing for a lot of people, and whenever there are promotion items for another game, they all pay for a new hat and get a free game.

For example, the Killing Floor christmas event. If you had both games over the holidays, you'd get a pyro skin in KF and some pyro items in TF2. That brought a lot of players over, sure, but they made the game nearly unplayable. They'd go into harder games without any leveled perks (whose bonuses you need to take on the tougher enemies), buy the weapons that were practically useless for their class, etc. That can be blamed on being new, but these guys absolutely refused to listen to any advice, and kept right on hurting their teams.

The last few updates have only fed this. See: Mannconomy, Medieval update, 90% of the community hats, etc.

Edit: for clarification, I'm referring to the general playerbase portion of the community. Most of the modding community is all right, and it's really Valve's fault for not playtesting the community weapons and not bothering to restrict community hats to fit within the game's context, so I don't really blame the people who make them as much.
theres a solution to this, find a good tf2 guild(clan whatever you want to call it) server and play on that. They tend to be better managed, and require the knowledge and skills you wanted from said new players.
That's true, but it generally doesn't solve the problem of all the ridiculous untested items floating around.

The untested weapons are a serious problem, but I almost think that it's under control with the Beta. What I won't excuse them for is completely forgoing their design principles and art direction.

While the official community maps have ranged from Egypt to awesome, the official community items have been pretty offensive all around.

We dont get mics because of 4 year old squeeky voiced loud mouthed little bastards. If we have a mic, that means that we need to talk with them, and its just not worth the migraine those conversations give me.

EDIT: Just noticed that this post made me the devil...
Wonder if that means anything?
Yes, it means that only evil people hate children to the extent that most gamers do.

I kid, but what is it with all the hate for little kids who play online? Most PC gamers over a certain age started playing online before their voices changed, the only difference between then and now is that we didn't have mics back then. I know it's largely about screaming 9-year olds, but I've honestly run into more screaming adults than screaming children, and it's the adults that really bother me. I'm not afraid of a kid with anger issues, especially since it's not too late to get him help with them. A grown man, on the other hand? That's a problem.

Step 1: Create server.
Step 2: Disable nondefault weapons.
Step 3: Change server title and tags to "No Fun Allowed".

Technically.. StarWars Galaxy, no?

Anyway, in the end the ultimate decision is in the hands of the designers.

I don't have an issue with the nondefault weapons. I loved the medic, spy, and pyro updates. I like maybe half of the other nondefault weapons, and there are several hats that I enjoy.

I absolutely hate the stupid particle effects ,paint jobs, and the zany themed (Medieval) items. It goes against the entire draw of the game. There are other class based shooters out there, TF2 HAD style and class at some point.

Combat Arms by Nexon.

Never have I seen so many damn dirty cheaters. Not even in the old Counterstrike days.

And the changes to Team Fortress 2. It had it's own unique feel. Now it's just getting silly. Sever spots wasted by idiots only wanting to trade some dumbass items instead of playing the game. They should have just had some random unlockables. No trading or crafting BS.

Oh right. "The game" not "gaming"!

- Mainstream FPS games.
- Bioware fanboys.
- Modern gamers, I suppose. We were kinda expecting most of you to fight back and not to adept when the industry grown'd.
??, please elaborate

EDIT: the bioware part, i mean
Go into Bioware's forums and say you prefer Renegade/Paragon Shepard. Wait five minutes and you'll have your answer.
i don't have an account and when i search paragon/renegade it says i can't access it, but how does the communty ruin a sp game?
