The more I learn about America, the more I wonder how you all cope!

I always take what I read with a little pinch of salt, everybody is trying to push their agenda and use the best examples to support their argument but some of the shit I've watched, it beggars belief! I watch one video about how the government pays for stadiums, not the business! The Jacksonville Jaguars NFL stadium has swimming pools you can watch the game from and Marlins Park has fish tanks around the stadium that you paid for!

Then you have the documentary on youtube called "the high cost of low prices" that is about wal mart getting loans and tax breaks, all the while putting local business out of business!

It's like every facet of government is corrupt to the core! Like this example, "the fact that one of the politicians who shot down the legislation is a former exec at AT&T, Rep. Patsy Hazlewood." WHAT THE FUCK! I watched a John Oliver video where he showed another video where a guy excused himself from a bench 'cos he had stock in a plastic company and the room was about to talk about an issue that involved all plastic companies ... the judge said "there is no bias"! The hearing could make him money or lose him money and he has no bias!?

If the government is meant to represent the people and the people wanted this but it was shot down, at what point does the second ammendment come into effect beyond "I haz gunz!"? 'cos that sounds pretty tyrannical to me!

I'll get off of my soap box now

I'm looking through the original story here: http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/local/story/2016/mar/15/house-committee-kills-compromise-epb-broadband-expansion-underserved-areas-hamilton-bradley-counties/355438/

But I can't find an exact list of representatives who supported shooting this down. Oh well. I don't live in Tennessee so I can't do anything about it as a voter. If anyone does though, I HIGHLY encourage making a list of the representatives who shot this down and making it very public.

Couldn't they just do it anyway and tell Comcast and AT&T to fuck off?
This,

What's stopping them from laying their own fiber or cables?
The inability to allocate funds to lay fiber, infrastructure, and management of it all. Unless you get a benevolent billionare to donate the money.

Wouldn't this be something Bill Gates would be interested in? Man has more money than he knows what to do with, you think improving America's computer network infastructure would be right up his street!

I was hoping to come in on Monday to find this article updated where the news of the scandal escalated to some kind of public outrage.

Oh wait I forgot, government lobbyists are a thing that exist...thousands of people want something? Nah, government needs to ok it with its corporate buddies first

And in return Comcast should be shut down and lobbyists put to jail for bribery of government officials.

Can someone explain how this isn't illegal? Surely this is the exact bullshit that anti-monopoly laws are supposed to combat. So much for the free market.
because bribery, or as the americans like to call it "lobbying" is legal in united states. You can buy any law you want provided you pay enough. see: Mickey Mouse law. [artlawjournal.com/mickey-mouse-keeps-changing-copyright-law/]
