Hello, people of The Escapist.

After a failed reboot earlier in 2014, the <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/The-Escapist-Community-Spotlight>Community Spotlight is making a proper return to the site.

So. We need nominations. The whole "PM them to me" thing never really took off, unfortunately, but the previous nominations thread was always quite popular and gave us lots of ideas. To nominate someone, here's what a I need.

- Their username. It would be preferable if you also linked to their profile. An easy way to use that is to use [*user]Username[*/user], without the asterisks.
- The reason you think they deserve a nomination. If you want to see someone highlighted in the Community Spotlight, there must be a reason, right? Well, we need to know that reason. If they're a content creator (artist, writer, etc.) then links to their work would also be appreciated.

Now, if someone has already received a Community Spotlight, they are not eligible to be nominated again. I'd like to think the full list of those ineligible is <url=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/tag/view/community%20spotlight?os=community+spotlight>here, but I guess there's a chance that an article or two weren't tagged "Community Spotlight."

Anyway, get those nominations in and we'll bring back the Community Spotlight as soon as we can.

That second link seems to be broken.

OT: What about sky14kemea, NewClassic or Silvanus? They always have something interesting and pretty level-headed to say. The former two do a pretty good job of maintaining the civility of the forums while the latter posts interesting and though-provoking in the R&P section usually.

Well, there's obviously Caramel Frappe who didn't technically get an "official" spotlight. Actually, how about this time it's about the Escapist United Nations of Pure Fun user group which he founded? I'd like to see more groups being in the Spotlight.

And how about some quite active mods? sky14kemea and TopazFusion I'd like to see. Hell, why not a Mod Group Spotlight?

I second sky14kemea, she's done a lot of good work recently in a tough time for moderation and it would be interesting to know more about her.

NewClassic and sky14kemea are fantastic people who make me laugh and think in ways I didn't before I got to know them!

I would also recommend SckizoBoy for being an interesting fellow, Fijiman for always being around and friendly and Dr.Susse for his Australian sensibilities and his ability to find the tastiest Windex in town.

Lilani

She's a forum veteran and I've seen her become embroiled into some of the most desperate topics yet remain wholly pleasant and respectful, even while talking to fierce opponents. I've also never even seen her engage in the less-frowned-upon art of the passive-aggressive, snarky, 'insult while still being inside the rules' post either. That's not something that can easily be said for many on here, as of late.

A second nominee would be erttheking.

Now if there is ever such a thing as a tried and tested combat veteran of forum warfare, it'd be him. I've seen what was once a bright soul back in 2011/2012 become beat down and disheartened through relentless thread-strife, yet ever the soldier has managed to muscle on through the thickest of flames (while shieldless!). Now wearied of battle, I'd like to know more about him and his reflection on these grave past two years.

Finally, DizzyChuggernaut.

She hasn't been here too long, yet her presence has been decisive and thunderous. From what I've seen of her postings, she seems to be a very interesting person, and, despite what may appear to be a sinking ship, if The Escapist can repair the leaking holes and replace the ripped flags and stay above the surface of the ocean waves, I imagine she'll become a mainstay of the forums and valued member.

I nominate Fappy because he's terribly butthurt that Daystar got one and he didn't.

That or Baffle because he's one of the few users here who's genuinely entertaining.

I would love to read that interview.

Edit:

Oh, also, Bloated Guppy and Zhukov for being sexy clever bastards.

I'll return a nomination to Barbas I've talked with him more lately and I'd be interested in learning all his secrets more about him.

Also Rabbitboy and G.O.A.T, one for a very interesting thread and presence in the forum games, and the other for their gift in intelligent debate. :)

I'm flattered that I've been mentioned at all so far... Thanks guys ;u; .

I'll throw my hat in for Lilani, Bloated Guppy and Zhukov because they are all very thoughtful and fun posters. I want to see into them brains!

This is my nomination/vote/whatever I'm doing here. Silvanus always makes thoughtful posts without going hostile. Unless provoked, of course.

Also, Barbas himself. You special snowflake, you.

...I must know your weaknesses for the coming days...

Barbas should get something. He's pretty much breaking posting records and a pretty cool dude.

And another for Sky14kema. Great mod, fun person, and someone who seems to actually give a damn about this site.

I'll cast another vote for Barbas. I imagine it would be quite the entertaining interview and the dude deserves it.

Also Redlin5. A true site mainstay and veteran of the Forum Games, who is also just a great guy to interact with.

Finally I'll say JoJo. He's super nice but not afraid of a good joke, a pleasure to talk to and a talented RP writer.

Edit: Oh oh one more, last one I swear. Tippy2k2, that beast of sex appeal needs some loving ;)

second every last bit of this. I purposefully avoid some threads because I don't want to be involved with them or hold grudges against some people in their worst of times (lets face it, most of those threads bring out the worst in people, and the passive aggressive posters tend to survive the longest since they know how to tip-toe the line) but anytime I do see lilani in the thick of things, she keeps it to the point and respectful, even if she quite clearly disagrees with the other person.

Agree with many of the other posts in this thread, but I feel like this user specifically deserves a raised pint in honor.

Definitely Baffle. One of the funniest posters on the site at the moment. I'd love to see some of his answers.

And yeah, some mod Spotlights would be interesting to read depending on the questions asked.
