Ahoy there, welcome to me vessel: the maiden of the, er...thread.
Anyway, my inspiration for this, was thus:
This morning I recieved a phone that I had bought from O2 (for those of you who are outside of the UK, that's a mobile(cell) phone service provider). I was looking forward to it because I got unlimited texts, and a phone which is much better than my old one. However, upon opening the box I found that my tariff was apparently 300 free UK texts when I top up £10. Don't get me wrong, this was good, but...it was not the droid I was looking for. I phoned them up and I was informed by some girl who sounded actually quite nice that that offer was until 8th February (yesterday at time of writing), and that the managers were refusing to give the tariff to other people who phoned for the same reason. I appreciated that she was trying to save me hassle, so I just accepted it because I'm annoyingly passive like that and hung up, but then it occured to me whilst I was just showering; no, fuck you, O2. That offer is rightfully mine...I saw it before the 8th February, I payed for it before the 8th February. The fact that my phone is in transit between then shouldn't matter.

So, 2 questions:
1) Do I have a case here, and should I fight to get that offer which is, in all honesty, rightfully mine.
2) Have you ever been unpleasantly surprised by a company in a manner similar to this?

Discussion time commence.

Fight it! They always cave in especially if you have receipts with dates on them.

Two words and you'll know that I know your pain. Insurance claims.

Is it spirit or being poor and desperate? Easily confused I guess. Oh, I won by the way.

They just don't give a shit really do they. As childish as it sounds I'm gonna sic my mum on the case. Not because I can't handle it myself, she just has a way of getting angry and making people give her what she wants. She got me and my sister Pokemon Diamond and Pearl a day early by getting angry in an Asda!

Sony. Got the YLOD and had to pay £90 to get a new one as it was 2 days out of it's one year warranty.

I raged.

It says a thousand words. Luckily my replacement was relatively effortless when this happened to me.

Well it sounds like you have the right woman on the case.. i had to get my dad to sort out the phone situation, partly because hes good with that sort of thing and partly because i was so pissed with orange i couldn't try to reason with them nicely..

Still the worst part was...

I was on a semi-perminant contract (You pay monthly but can cancell at any time) just to try out a few diffent tarrifs to see wich worked best, i decided on one and told orange i wanted a perminant 18 month contract so i could get a new phone (HTC Hero). They said no? Wtf.. apperntly to do this i had to change numbers?? so i said fine i'll go to vodafone (as an attempt to scare them) My reply?? "Ok"

So i did exactly that, singed up contracts, still very pissed as now i couldnt get the phone that i wanted as it was orange exclusive...

And a few days before i got my phone/sim from vodafone, orange phoned.. Saying i can go on the contract with the same number and get the phone... Wankers.
And they acted as if nothing was wrong in the first place
Then it took around a month for everything to be sorted and my phone to arrive..

In whole this took around 3 months, just to simply change a semi-perminant contract to a perminant one..

Sorry about the long post, they just piss me off

No worries, I didn't mind reading it.
That's just dickish...not only did they mess around with you but they wasted your time and money too. That just goes to show that for the most part, they really just don't care how much they'll fuck around with you.

The part that pisses you off is how they act like nothing is wrong and they just seemed chilled about it.

Oh an for the OT: Fight the case, it payed off for me (50% discount for a few month) which, yes required an extra few week fighting them..

But finally when you win, it feels so worth it
and trust me you will win, eventually the company will be willing to give you a better offer just to get rid of you

Yeah that is the most annoying part. If they were a person, they'd be the kind who would never admit to being wrong.
And I will, thank you. To be honest, I have much more of a case anyway.

I don't get screwed over, but I'm not afraid of yelling at companies either face to face, or over the phone to get what I want.

They blocked my recharge service for no reason, and the only way to fix it without going to a store was to ring 1258880 on my mobile.

Upon ringing this number, i got a voice mail telling me i could not connect because i lacked the credit to complete the call.

I cant call them to get the credit that i need to call them.
Messed up aye?
