I lolled, sorry, couldn't help it...

Anyway, there's been so much trouble with it that it's not even remotely funny even for a non-owner...

Companies that screwed me over? Well, the cablecompany charged me twice on an offer they had(4 soccer channels, yuck). To top that, they didn't even hook me up with them either. So I payed double for something I didn't receive. I called them, and they said they'dd send the money back.

3 phonecalls and months later they finally paid up...

oh yea, i have a fun story. Fuck you Chase Bank!

yea so i bought my house, signed all my paperwork and my loan went thru Chase. I specifically signed forms to include my taxes into my monthly payments. that worked fine for about a year, then they stopped paying the taxes for some unknown reason. I see my name in the newspaper for deliquent property taxes, thats the only reason i found out chase wasn't paying them, cuz they sure as shit never informed me.

So i call them up tell them the problem, 'oh no, you never signed up to have the taxes in your monthly payment. Me: yes i did. Them: No you didn't, i have your acount up right now...i hang up and call back the next day with my paperwork in hand proving them wrong. i volunteer to fax it to them. Them: oh yea let me patch u thru to someone else. After a 15 minute wait, "oh yea thats our fault, we screwed up. We'll fix it"

They just started paying them again, but I now have to pay an additional $150 a month on my house to cover the back taxes owed for their fuckup. So, once again, FUCK CHASE BANK!

I got screwed over by Amazon.com and I still refuse to buy from them.

I payed $26 for an unboxed DVD set. They didn't tell me that I could not put it on a disc and watch it in my DVD player. Not only that, but you could ONLY watch it on a computer that had their special player installed. And when I read the privacy policy on that program, it said that they could record and submit all internet activity on your computer, even when not running the player. Fuck that.

The law says that you cannot have an "agreement to agree." You cannot bind yourself in one contract to agree to the terms of another contract in the future when the terms of that future contract are not clear. If the terms of the future contract were fully spelled out, then you can agree to enter into it later. You just cannot agree to be bound by terms that have not be clearly set.

That means, when you buy something like this, if you don't agree to the licensing terms, you are legally able to rescind the contract and get your money back. That's because the contract of sale is conditioned on your accepting the terms of the licensing agreement. I did NOT accept those terms and the contract of sale was null and void. But Amazon.com refused to refund my money even though I never actually downloaded the product because I didn't agree to the terms of the player.

The problem in these situations, is that the cost of bringing them to court is FAR more than what you get by winning the suit. It would cost me a $1,000 to get back my $26 dollars. This is why we have class-action lawsuits. When thousands of people get screwed for a small amount of money, they can all sue together and the costs of the lawsuit will be less for each person than their individual rewards for winning. People give a bad rap to class-actions for some reason, but they are the only thing keeping large and unscrupulous companies from screwing individual people like this for small sums of money.

When this happened, I was in the middle of law school. It's what made me decide to focus on civil law rather than criminal law. So that next time someone tried to pull this crap on me or any of my people, I can sue them myself for free if I want to.

Phone companies (and a lot of other companies, come to think of it) are notorious for pulling every dirty, underhanded trick they can think of to make more money, so O2's "answer" does not surprise me.

Have I ever been screwed over by a company? Probably my car dealership. I can't prove anything, but it does seem odd how every time I bring the car in for its regular scheduled maintenance, it suddenly develops another little "problem" that requires an expensive repair within the next couple of weeks...funny how that happens.

That would be the lack of memory in the 360, and M$ charging for any updates launched through XBL.
