Yes, after spending a good few years concentrating on Dawn of War, Relic has finally turned it's eye back to it's other award-winning, money-printing series. Currently set for a release date in 2013, the players will assume the command of the Red Army on the Eastern Front. New game mechanics include updated Commander Abilities and 'innovative Dynamic Battle Tactics'.

All well and good, Relic, but I still have one question - Where's Homeworld 3?

It is about damn time. Dawn of War is fine and all, but Company of Heroes was the better RTS of the two. CoH still has the better strategic depth, tactical flexibility and one of the best soft/hard counter systems in modern RTS gaming. That they moved it to the eastern front is just icing on this cake.

The Escapist already had an article on this.

Personally I prefer Dawn of War but one of my friends was extremely excited when I told him this news.

I'll more than likely end up playing it anyway, hopefully they'll have the same amount of hilarious unit dialogue as the first.

That's only a few examples.

Company of Heroes 2 and Dawn of War 3, don't make one and leave the other one on the drawing board Relic. Just get hard at work and finish them both with the amazing quality you always produce your RTS games with. You can celebrate later, you've got work to do. :)

-Insert relevant profit meme here- I already said this before but I'll say it again. If this succeeds, it will get THQ back on track and it will mean Relic's return to their best genre. Although I prefer Dawn of War for fun, I still look forward to the sequel to one of the greatest RTS's.

Since I bought company of heroes I always wanted to play as Japan and the Soviet Union. One of those is happening. So excited.

Awesome, one of my favourite RTS's. Shame they scrapped CoHO, that was really fun, hopefuly at least they'll expand the multiplayer experience on this one somewhat.

So it's only going to be Russians vs. Germans? Bummer. I was hoping for a Pacific setting as well.

Hopefully Americans/Brits will still be playable in multiplayer.

Meh, to me Company of Heroes is Dawn of War without Bolters.
Not nearly as awesome.

I personally can't wait. Never understood the appeal to Dawn of War even after playing it, but Company of Heroes was an amazing game in my opinion. So I will be eagerly waiting its release.

Well the way they describe it things sound very close to an expansion pack, I hope THQ in trouble doesn't mean a bodge job.
But Relic always made quality so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.

And I hope this means DoW 3 on a similar engine too, because WH40k is to me the far superior setting it's just that those games weren't quite up to the CoH combat standard.

Yay, now instead of logical well thought out tactics, I can just "select All" and attack move my human wave at the enemy. Sounds good! I wonder what the Japanese forces will have to set themselves apart. They were mostly defensive warfare, I wonder if you'll get to rape Nan-king.

I was hoping, too. I wanted me some Asia theatre island hopping.
