"Bad Graphics"
Look, the weakest of current generation graphics are masterworks compared to the previous generation and the one before that and so on. They were still fun. Asking for better and better Graphics makes game development even more of a money sink and takes away even more from the Fun and Innovation budgets.
"It's too colourful and kiddy so it's Teh Gay"
God forbid a game where characters express emotion besides macho-ness or force you to go for more than a minute without covering yourself another being's entrails. Yahtzee mocks this disturbingly warped mindset really well on occasion, as does Arby n' the Chief.
I agree. Amazing graphics are nice, but unnecessary. Some of my favorite games had less than stellar graphics. Gameplay, story, and characters are more important that looking pretty. Though, I may be a bit of a hypocrite here, because I do like good graphics and they do impress me. I just realize that there has to be more...
I also like to play a lot of RPGs because they tend to be more than testosterone driven kill-fests. Generally, characters have their own motives and story. And most villains are actually sympathetic. Even the most evil S.O.B. I ever saw in a RPG, Prince Luca Blight in Suikoden 2, was merely a product of his environment.

Complaints against Bioshock 2 for its "lack of originality."
In a world where Super Mario Galaxy 2 gets nominated for GOTY, lack of originality is no longer allowed to be a factor. Lack of originality does not exsist in a world where Nintendo has been making the same Zelda game since 1991.
OK, you copied that from Yahtzee. Of course, it IS true, so I'll let that slide. This time.
I'm just joking, but you and Yahtzee are right about Nintendo making the same basic games over and over again. There are the occasional breaks from the same grind, but that seems rare. Really most Mario games do end up being: "Save the Princess from Bowser. In Space this time." It gets kind of old. Yes, they are great games, but why can't they change the story some? Why can't Nintendo take more chances or create new IPs? Final Fantasy games might all be about saving the world, but at least they change the characters, worlds, and story between each game.
Kind of odd to make that complaint in a thread about complaints you don't get, I'll admit, but... I really don't have a defense for that...
