The computer does not reboot on it's own.

Can anyone help me on how to reboot my computer?

Have you tried kicking it? One of the first things you should do if you are experiencing computer problems. If that doesn't work, buy a new one.

More information please. OS, age of hardware (maybe), etc.
The fan didn't work, so I cleaned out the dust.

Now when I turn it on, the fan works but it's just a black screen.

If you need more information, I'll try to provide it.

So you're not getting any video on your monitor? Is it completely black are are there any blinking cursor lines?

Hitting it worked for my friends laptop, whenever it goes a bit haywire. Also, try cutting the power cord with a metal handled blade. Try calling a PC guy to come fix it.

It's totally black. Plus, it makes a beeping noise.

Hmm...double check the fan, I know on my bf's old comp when we got a beeping noise, it was a sign of a fan error, make sure no wire are stuck in the fan. That was our problem.

Try to open the case and take out the ram, clean out the dust, put the RAM back in. It might be RAM, mine was showing all the symptoms of bad RAM (including your problem) I yanked the ram out, took some compressed air to it, stuck them back in, and it works great.

I'm guessing its a single beep when you try and boot the comp up.

Either its proper fucked broken or what is possible is that you managed to un-seat the video card when you cleaned all the dust out. So take the video-card out and re-seat it and make sure the monitor plugged in properly (do the little screws up properly!)

Edit: Post number 404 - Page not found. he he

Well, I think that the beeps are a code, but I agree with the RAM idea. That would be the most likely cause. If that doesn't work, you could try looking up what the beeps mean for your computer's manufacturer.

If you have a black screen and your motherboard is beeping, that will sometimes indicate that you have a Ram problem.

Your ram might look something like this:

Turn your computer off and check and see if it's loose. Pop it out and reseat it. Then turn your computer back on.

Technology is magic and when it breaks you have to buy a new one.

Technically, it's not 'booting'. Rebooting is something completely different.

I have nothing constructive to add, after you said beeping I immediately thought RAM but someones already covered that.

Good luck tho. :p

I took out the RAM, dusted it, and put it back in and it seems to be working!

Thank all you helpful people very much!

seems like something is messed up in your pc

so here's what you do

1 get your motherboard name and maker
2 listen to the beeps EXACTLY (ie long and short and the number of them) and remember the sequence
3 go on google and find out the bios beep codes for your motherboard, use the phrase "bios beep code" you can put in the motherboard maker (just not the model)

you can also try looking in the manual for the motherboard to see if it lists the beep codes
