Basically I've wanted a new computer for a while but I'm confused by terminology and how to decide whats would give the best performance I've found one I like so far
SYSTEM SPECIFICATIONS

CPU : VERY FAST AMD BULLDOZER X4 4100 AM3 3.6 GHZ CPU

RAM : 8GB 1333Mhz DDR3 RAM

HARD DRIVE : 1000GB SATA

GRAPHICS CARD : 1GB ATI RADEON HD 6450 HDMI

I'd just like to know what mainstream games this would be capable of playing with a steady frame rate, and if possible how you work this out,
thanks

It will play everything. Ask your best friends to see if any have experience building (if you're willing to learn, it's worth knowing exactly how your computer works).

It's bad, but it will run. I never said you could max anything out.

The video card is entry-level (it's a 50$ card...), it could use an upgrade if you're planning on gaming with it. the CPU and ram are fine. The Hd, well it's just storage, 1TB should be sufficient unless you're doing video/music editing or something very space-intensive.

I'd suggest looking into the 6850 or the 6870 series if you wanna stay with ATI, the price difference isn't so bad (+/-100$) and the GPU's are much better. If you want to go Nvidia i'd suggest GTS450 or 550.These cards aren't monsters but they're "good" midrange cards.

Also, we don't know the other hardware. If you're using a 20 year old motherboard it won't run anything :p
