Ok so I explained this the best to a friend and tried googling it and everything and I still can't find an answer. I know I've fixed it before but I can't seem to find out how anymore. So when you move a program across your desktop usually it drags with it. But mine only shows a little grey box outlining the program and doesn't move the actual program until I let go of it. Thanks guys if you can tell me how to do this, or how I can word it so google knows what I'm talking about.

Edit: I'm using Windows XP.

Edit2: Problem solved. Thanks guys.

Sounds like your upper left squirel coil is overheating... just pour some water on it and it should be fine.

Trust me if there's one thing I know, it's computer repair.

right click on desktop, go to arrange icons by, uncheck auto arrange and align to grid.
Thanks. That didn't work though. Its not an icon thing. Its like an IM window that it happens too. Not a IM problem though.

Right click on the desktop and click Properties.
Click the Appearances tab.
Click the Effects button.
Check the Show window contents while dragging box.
Success.
