Huh, be thankful that you're not installing an AMD stock cooler. I hear that they're a fucking nightmare.

EDIT: My advice; don't by Dell. They're bloody scammers that use sub-par parts and will charge you and arm and a leg for it.
yeah, I've heard about AMD coolers, haha.

I really like my dell though, and unfortunately I dont really care for any other companies products either :p If anything, once this computer becomes completely irrelevant, perhaps I will build my own machine.

Look at my post. That cooler is also $40 and excellent.
Yeah, I will most definitely keep that in mind. It looks like a nice cooler, but until I have tried a couple solutions and they don't work will I get a new cooler. I mean, x-mas is right around the corner, and I'm a college student, lol.
Check out Tiger Direct. They normally have some good deals on at Christmas.

Undervolt your CPU. Seriously, it helped me with my Dell to drop excess 10-15 degrees. Now, I don't know a suitable tool for your CPU, though.

Hi everyone, I just got done with cleaning up my pc. I was on with text support for a good hour and a half. He came in and re-installed some stuffand I decided to clean my pc out with some canned air. So right now I'm sitting here and making sure everything is alright. But it seems to be okay. So I guess time will tell as to whether I need a new cooler or not, and what that all might entail. hopefully it just needed a good cleaning.

Er, that is a really bad idea if you like using the power you paid for. Fix the problem, not the symptom.

Also, I wanted to post this much earlier:

http://www.dansdata.com/goop.htm

It gives a pretty good explanation of thermal paste, how it works, how to apply it, and which ones work best.

Sounds like it's getting too hot.

As some other people have said, download something that monitors component temperatures.

Try cleaning the inside of the case if it looks particularly dusty too (you'll need a can of compressed air).

Hey all! So, I was checking out my system some more. My machine rebooted while I was using google chrome, the temps were at about 46C the max was 59C from when I turned it on. This seems like it isn't the heat causing the problem...

or at least, it isnt the main culprit. I've switched to Firefox, no restarts yet. I am thinking that this might not actually be a heat issue though.

Keep monitoring heat output to make sure that you're still not overheating. Dunno why you're problem just went away. Computers are like that I guess.

If you do start overheating again then just remove your cooler, get rid of you're old layer of thermal grease, re-apply it and put the cooler back on. There's nothing wrong with stock coolers, especially if you're not OCing. Bad thermal paste applications are usually the culprit.

I'm thinking my pc might get a tad hot, but remember the 70C temps were when I was using prime 95 to test it. So, yeah, if It gets up there while playing games or something I will most definitely regrease
