A good idea, but not for a CoD game.

I cant really imagine a campaign, but I can imagine guys running around in multiplayer killing each other with swords, bows, axes and arrows.

Also for a game like this you would need some sort of VERY good melee system.

And to make things more interesting you would probably have to add in some cool stuff, like how Assassins Creed 2 and Brotherhood have all those Da Vinci inventions which never got past the design phase in reality.

What are your ideas for features like weapons, perks, attachments, and killstreaks?
Weapons? Anything Dark Age really, heavy emphasis on bows, crossbows, swords, axes and the like.

Perks? Im not sure, keep all the old ones I suppose.

Attachments? I cant imagine any sort of 'attachment' for medieval era weaponry, but as someone else said I guess you could have hardened or serrated blades and that sort of thing, and different kinds of arrows, there were many different kinds of specialized arrowheads back then, but that would be likely to make you do too much damage making the game waaaay unbalanced.
Remember how lame stopping power was?

Killstreaks? As said before with adding non-existant stuff into the game, you would need stuff like that to make it more interesting and fun, as well as more CoD styled, so heres my take on the killstreak rewards.

3, Hang Glider - Basically a UAV, but due to the absence of a radar it would need to give you enemy positions differently.
Can be seen but can only be shot down by Counter Hang Glider.
4, Counter Hang Glider - If an enemy Hang Glider appears within 30 seconds it is shot down by crossbowmen outside the map.
5, Catapult Barrage - Catapults nail the area of your chosing in a straight line, like a creeping barrage...medieval style.
5, Care Package - Not sure just how the hell it would be delivered though, maybe a catapult shooting a package on a parachute onto the map?
6, Archers - Archers blanket 3 selected areas with arrows.
6, Ballista - A giant crossbow thingy is set up and can be used by the player, a weaker sentry gun which the player directly controls.
7, Auto-bow - A self loading crossbow, pretty much a weaker Death Machine.
8, The Contraption - The Contraption is some sort of big flying machine thing.
Its a flying recon craft which can be seen but cannot be destroyed and has a time limit. The new SR-71 Blackbird.
9, Attack Glider - A hang glider which the player controls. Its destroyable but is somewhat armoured and has a forward firing Auto-bow.
11, The Watcher - The Contraptions big bro. It stays at the same altitude but can be directed by the player and you can drop bombs on people.
It cant find enemies but the actual user themself has a good view of everything.

Miscellaneous stuff -

Far as I know they didnt have GPS in the Dark Ages, replace the highly detailed map with a crude hand drawn one, enemy positions are shown on it in the same way when they are spotted by recon.

There's a Half Life 2 mod called Pirates, Vikings, and Knights. It is a first person game where you run around with swords, axes, shields, and some very primitive gunpowder weapons (if you're a pirate). It's brilliant but the dev team takes way too long to update.

http://www.pvkii.com/

Then there's Mount and Blade which has been mentioned, though it's third person.

Really though. PVKII already has a damn near perfect system in place for skill based melee fighting, and Mount and Blade does many similar things. It's not like an online melee FPS isn't possible, it's just no big companies have decided to try it.

Of course it wouldn't actually be a CoD title, but I see where you're going with this and hell yes I would want to play it.

If someone is going for a multiplayer game built around melee combat, first person is a terrible choice. Melee combat has never been done well in first person. It has been done adequately, but each game that did it decently would have been better in third person. Heck, even Jedi Knight series (which is at its core an FPS) switches to 3rd person when you whip out your Lightsaber...

I'm going to point to Mount & Blade: Warband, as that's probably the closest anyone's been to a CoD: Medieval.

sounds like oblivion with multiplayer. i'd try it out at least, though it sounds terrible.

perk 1: do not die after 3 minutes from poor sanitation conditions
perk 2: have the ability to move freely with a suit of armor on
perk 3: tax the poor to increase weapon range! (i dont know, just go with it)

3-killstreak: a horse
5-killstreak: catapult strike
11-killstreak: flaming catapult strike! awesome!
