Having played through FF VII I didn't enjoy it as much as some of the others. In MY OPINION it is overrated.

FF X I think I spent the most time playing of any FF game, trying for large amounts of time to get the perfect sphere grid, which although repetitive and tedious gave me great memories of the game. Not to mention capturing 10 of every creature.

FF XII...hmm...I enjoyed this game aswell. To me it played like an MMORPG without having to rely on other people to do their jobs within the party. Yes the gambit system could be abused but 1 gambit setup would never work for all the battles.

Slightly unrelated to the topic however, I regard FF VIII as my favourite game of all time, but I find it hard to give reasons why.

All in all, many of the FF games would be highly rated on my top games list if I ever got around to making one.

Well duh...isn't it obvious the opposite is also true?

It's just that you are more likely to stumble upon a comment that goes "What the hell is all the fuss about with game XYZ?....I LIKED IT." As if such a statement has any argumentative value.

I wasn't implying that hating a game is any more objective than liking a game. Under the precondition that no substantive arguments are adduced, of course.
One would hope so, but no, it's not obvious (well, it's obvious to me, but internet being what it is, i can't take it on faith it's obvious to rest of the people).

And in my experience you are just as, if not more, likely to hear someone say the game "sucked" without any qualitive statements added.
Probably because if someone loved a game, they are more likely to keep talking about it, and all the great things in it.

Not to mention that even substantive arguments are often subjective, because people like different things.

7 was ok, I don't have any major opinions on it. I didn't love it, and I am a little annoyed by all the overjoyed hype it gets, but I don't let that cloud my opinion of the game itself. I don't hate it just because it's popular.

10 was the last Final Fantasy game (excluding ports/remakes of older games) that I actually liked enough to play all the way through.

12 had me bored after about 5 hours. I never finished it. Didn't care.

And to anyone who thinks I should give 12 another shot because it "get's good later" I don't care about that either. It's not unreasonable to expect a game to be good from the start.

i didnt get a ps2 till 03 and my first game for it was ff10 so im biased there. 7 for me was good not great and 12 was good but not what iwas looking for in a ff. to have a decent party you HAD to use gambits which meant you spent way longer menu hoping than you should have
