You're right Alex Mercer was a complete dick but that why I loved playing as him. To me he is prototype. A game in which the whole point is to go around wrecking thousands of people's days for no other reason than a selfish drive to find out what happened to you.

The bad side of playing Alex again would be that by the end of the game he had become a bit more human. He actually seems to regret his actions so far and the billions of innocent lives lost okay maybe he doesn't regret the lives lost so much but he still seemed unlikely to take his anger out on pedestrians any time soon.

The new guy however will have a whole new world of angst to break stuff about. Injected against his will on a whim, rejected by his fellow man, lost his family e.t.c

I can't wait to take to the streets again, no matter who I'm playing as.

Mercer was a lot of fun to play as. Completely self-serving and selfish in his goals and dickish and ruthless in his methods; despite those I managed to understand and relate to a degree.

Mr New Guy however is most likely going to suffer the same problem as Mercer, "Who did this to me and what am I!?". I haven't seen the trailer so if the motive is already established then let me know. It'll be nice to see how Blacklight manifests itself in a way other than how it did with Mercer.

Also Alex as a boss fight? Can I get a hell yes for that! Providing he retains his human shape then it'll be sweet. I was so pissed at the boss fights in Prototype as I never felt there was a definitive enemy, just a load of mutations that you had to curb stomp.

Yep it's established. He comes back from active duty to find his family murdered. He then battles his way into the NY red zone A "strange man" (trailer hints that its Alex) gives him an injection of the virus for unknown reasons.
By the way Alex is also the one implied by the trailer to have murdered his family; directly or indirectly isn't explained or proven.

The website is "murderyourmaker.com" so I'm saying motive well and truely established. Whether its a motive that will be proven false has yet to be seen.
