I live in Ottawa and right now, it's music festival time. We have a jazzfest, a regaefest, and right no, bluesfest (which isn't really blues, it's more a rock festival with a bit of blues) ad lots of bands play every night, with over 200 shows total at bluesfest alone. We had Soundgarden the first night, we had SteveMillerBand, and last night was my favorite band, Rise Against. And I had one reaction to it:

BEST. CONCERT. EVER. I crowd-surfed, we got an encore out of them, there was a mosh pit, it was fantastic!

So, Escapists, are there any concerts you've been to and which ones are your favorites?

Recently I saw the Foo fighters at the Milton Keynes bowel, it was fucking awesome from start to finish. Also as a added bonus Roger Taylor (the drummer from Queen) was there as a guest and played drums for a cold day in the sun with Taylor Hawking singing.

Also saw Queen+Paul Rogers a couple of years ago at the smaller Nottingham ice arena and that was amazing to... I was stood at the front of the stage right in front of Brian May and fuck what a amazing guitarist he is.

I saw Rush in April down in Louisville, and they were AMAZING! Seriously, those three guys are masters of their craft.

Other than that, Trans-Siberian Orchestra put on a great show, I saw Trainwreck in Columbus, which was a lot of fun, and Weird Al puts on a fun show, once you learn to live with the fact that he's just lip synching. If you're into country, Brad Paisley knows how to put on a show that'll leave you wanting more. I've been to a few others (Journey, Styx, REO Speedwagon, Kansas, Dierks Bentley, Justin Moore, Miranda Lambert, and the Zac Brown Band), but those are the ones that really stand out in my mind.

My top gigs would have to be AFI last April in Birmingham (really really phenomenal) and Parkway Drive a few months back. They were touring with The Devil Wears Prada, Architects and Bring Me The Horizon, all of which were great but nothing compared to Parkway. They were astonishing
You've not lived until you've been in a crowd as the breakdown cuts out, the house lights go up and you and a thousand others scream "SO CRY ME A FUCKING RIVER, *****!!"

Other favourites are the second time I saw Funeral For A Friend. I went with a decent sized group of mates and it really was something special. The Gaslight Anthem are also fantastic live. They're my favourite band and they were really beautiful live

I've also seen Alkaline Trio, Against Me!, Cancer Bats, SHARKS, Biffy Clyro, Sick Of It All and many more, all of which were brilliant. The only shit gig I've actually ever been to was Tenacious D, they were terrible

I've seen Hootey and The Blowfish in concert back in 2000. I saw Rush who did like a 2 or 3 hour show as the only band on stage, they are amazing live. Yes, who also did their own set and it was good 2 hours long. I saw Pearl Jam too they played mostly older music so the concert was pretty good.

5 concerts in a series of Chopin Recitals, and an excellent Nickolai Lugansky Beethoven concerto most recently.

Popular music-wise, none for a while.

If we're counting small club venues then way too many to count. Even the big ones are still quite a few for me. Notables include: AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Elvis Costello, Billy Joel, and a few others. I really love Live Music. I'm also going to see Alice Cooper, Judas Priest, Thin Lizzy, and a few others at various times later this year

Oh and Warped Tour the past two years as well

I've been to quite a few concerts. Most of them were festivals. My absolute favorite concert was, hands down, Rammstein in Las Vegas back in May.
