What concerts have you escapists been to? Any bands that you want to see in concert?

Earlier in the summer I went to a really small outdoor concert and saw Set Your Goals. That was my first concert and it was a lot of fun.
This coming Saturday I'm going to another small concert to see Handguns. I actually just started listening to this band so it's cool that I found a concert nearby.
Later this month I'm going to Vans Warped Tour. It's an all day event with a bunch of bands so I don't know who all I'm going to see there.
Most of the bands I'm going to see can fall into the "pop punk"(ugh) genre but that's because that is what my friends listen to.

Last month I went and saw Bruce Springsteen. That one heck of a good show right there. I hope I've got that much energy when I'm however old The Boss is.

I was at Warped a few years ago but outside that I have only really been to a few shows here and there.

Bands I've seen, in rough chronological order:

- Bloodsimple
- God Forbid
- Trivium
- Demiricous
- Still Remains
- Enter Shikari
- Pendulum
- The Animals

They were all pretty awesome, I really want to see Lamb of God, Mindless Self Indulgence, Pantera, and In Flames before they sold out (not all of those are possible, but I can dream of time travel...)

I envy you. Just thought you should know.

Going to a Springsteen concert is on my bucket list.

As for me, I've seen OAR and Kansas in concert, but that's about it. Both were pretty great shows. The OAR concert was at the Redrocks Amphitheater in Colorado. Coolest venue I've ever seen.

Kansas, strangely enough, was hosting a free concert in the Grand Rapids area in Michigan. I was surprised to see people moshing during Dust in the Wind. Not the best mosh song, I wouldn't think.

Though, I suppose I'm no expert on moshes, nor do I wish to be.

Wish? I just made a wish. A wish for a dish? Or a fish? No, no, no.

I have never really been to a concert. For me the appeal is overshadowed by the negative aspects so I normally don't bother. Although next week there would have been a Hugh Laurie concert, if only the tickets hadn't been at least 60? a piece and sold out so soon...

Bizarre knocking of the pop-punk genre, especially when I'd probably place both the bands you posted into the same category.

I went to Radio 1's Hackney Weekend last month, which was pretty cool. Got to see deadmau5 and Ed Sheeran live. Hadn't been to something in a while before that - Reading Festival last year was my previous. I've been to a fair few concerts, though perhaps not as many as I'd have liked.

Green Day and Muse were both excellent as well, though I think I'd have had to be a bigger Muse fan to really enjoy their set. Green Day were world-class throughout (saw both at Wembley Stadium, London).

I've been to a solid number. The biggest names I've seen are Elton John (not my idea), Devo, the Pixies, and Pavement.

The best was the National by far. They're fairly subdued on record, but live, they were ferocious.

I've gone to see:

Michael Bolton
The Moody Blues
Paul Revere and the Raiders & The Turtles
Billy Joel & Elton John

As you might guess, most of the bands I'd want to see were gone before I was old enough to miss them. Especially so for the Beatles and Queen. So my "Want to see" list is fairly short.

The last concert I went to was sort of a Tchaikovsky best of, played by the symphony of Iceland, not that many members but it was beautiful nonetheless.
Would love to see Rusted Root or Bela Fleck and the Flecktones live.

My first concert was Keane a few years ago. I've also been to Fight Like Apes and The Police, who weren't actually that great live. The band I'd most like to see live is Rise Against, but they aren't really popular where I live so sucks to be me :(

My first concert was a relatively small grunge band called The Indecent when they came over to the UK. The music was alright, but due to social anxiety and it being a small venue, it was awkward and I didn't enjoy it as much as I would've had it been a larger audience. My second concert was Roger Waters - The Wall, this was a great concert and the visuals were fantastic too, at the end the wall came crashing down, literally.

The only other concert I've been to would be Bob Dylan, despite him being a favourite of mine, I didn't really enjoy the show since he had his back to one half of the audience the whole time and was sat down for the majority of the songs, using the keyboard. Though I guess this was to be expected due to his old age and deteriorating health.

Haven't been to any other concerts, though I would love to see David Bowie live sometime.

I'll see if I can remember them all:

Rush
Muse (favorite concert by far)
Chevelle (twice, both fantastic shows)
Airborne Toxic Event
Newsboys (twice)
TobyMac

I think there may be one or two more but I can't remember. I guess I can add Stone Mary in there as they opened for Chevelle a couple nights ago and they weren't bad.

Going to concerts is by far one of my favorite experiences so far and I plan on going to many more.

I've gone to see FallOutBoy, the Gorillaz and Roger Waters live. The latter two were awesome, truly a great night.

They are in the same category. It's not the music that I don't like, it's other things about the genre.

Bands I've seen live:

Black Crows
Black Sabbath (with Ozzy)
Cradle of Filth
Creed
Disturbed
Eminem
Godsmack
Linkin Park
Marilyn Manson
Metallica
System of a Down

I know I've seen more but I don't remember honestly. I don't care much for concerts and the only bands I would really want to see live are Japanese bands who likely won't be back in the U.S. at all/any time soon. I almost got to see Dir en Grey when they came state-side but...that kind of failed because I had no ride...dammit.

Just a few weeks ago I went to an awesome Iron Maiden concert with Alice Cooper as the opening act. That was a damn good show, especially when they played "The Trooper".
