Oh god, let's see:

Turn based combat sucks, as do top down strategy IMO
Never saw Star Trek/Wars
Game of thrones sucks as both a book and a TV series (though for some different reasons
Batman is a pussy whose no kill policy makes him one of the worst heroes of all time
Alan Moore is a pretentious ass, and though Watcen and V for vendetta were good, they don't deserve the acclaim
WOW is a shit game.

...shit, I need to call the fire brigade, because the flames are coming.

I've only ever read the first chapter of Fellowship of The Ring.
Don't feel bad about this one, I tried reading Fellowship about 4 times, and kept putting it down around the time the Hobbit's meet Tom Bombadill. I literally had to be on acid to sit through that fucking book and actually finish it.

So yeah, not a sin there. xD

My nerd sin is that I actually like the line "I hate sand, it's course, rough, and it get's into everything." Everyone gives that line shit, but I always saw it as like that of the Eskimos, who have apparently 40+ words for snow. When a particular environmental feature dominates your ecosystem, you develop very strong feelings about it. So a kid from a desert planet, telling someone about how he hates sand when standing on a lush, green world, makes perfect sense to me.

I have so many. Name a thing that is a nerd "rite of passage" and I'm sure I won't have seen/played/read it.
Some specifics:
- I've never read or watched The Lord of the Rings series. I fell asleep through the first movie years ago and just never really cared to go back. The books are on my massive list of things to read at some point in time though.
- I liked FFX-2.
- The only Nintendo home console i've had is a Wii.
- I'm friends with someone who liked Duke Nukem Forever. :)
- And I'm just not that interested in Doctor Who. I appreciate it as a massive pop cultural touchstone, but I just don't feel any startling need to get involved.
- And haven't seen any Star Wars movies.

So on a scale of 0 to Virtual Boy, how much ridicule and scorn am I due for? Can I choose which portrayal of Hell I'll be sent to?

This should be fun:

Not seen Star Trek The Original Series nor do I intend to anytime soon.
Not seen Dr. Who nor do I intend to anytime soon.
I don't think The Beatles are the best band in the history of the universe.
I can't play FFVII because it makes my eyes bleed.
Never played Half-Life 1 or 2.

- Super hero comics bore me to tears
- I don't like the older Final Fantasy games (before X)
- I don't like Dr. Who
- I like Voyager
- I've never played Metroid or Castlevania
- I loved Mass Effect 3, and didn't mind the ending
- I think Fallout 3 was better than New Vegas
- I really enjoyed Call of Duty for years (bought and played every one from CoD 4 to Black Ops 2)
- I don't like card games of any type
- I can't stand MLP
- I didn't like Bioshock (enjoyed Infinite, though)
- I still think Demon's Souls is better than Dark Souls
- I only enjoyed the first book of Dune, the rest can stuff it
- There are quite a few exceptions, but in general I don't like anime

The Star Wars prequels are much more interesting films than the original trilogy. Not necessarily better, but I find it more enjoyable to think about and talk about those movies than talk about the alright New Hope and Return of the Jedi and the quite awesome ESB.

Never played any table top RPG, never want to.

Never watched The Walking Dead or Breaking Bad or any of that stuff, again never care to.

I like sports & even enjoy physically playing them.

Final Fantasy 12 & Tactics are my favorites. FF7 is overrated.

I enjoyed the Green Lantern movie & the Nolan Batman movies were shit. Tired of Batman in general.

EA didn't deserve the "worst company" awards. They were pretty bad, but there were much worse offenders. That was a severe case of nerd rage skewing things.

I like the new Star Trek movies, they are quite fun & I've seen all the others so I have plenty to judge by.

I happily game on both consoles & PC & have no brand loyalty.

DLC isn't all bad, but pre-orders are very sketchy.

I enjoy Big Bang Theory, because I can laugh at a caricature of me & my friends & not take it seriously.

I don't really care for any of the Metal Gear games... too much WTF.

I could probably think of more, but I'm sure that's enough.

I've never played a Final Fantasy/Metroid/Zelda game.

I admit to judging an entire fandom based on the absolute worst people associated with that fandom. (Sorry to everyone I acted like a dick to)

I love D&D but cannot stand Lord Of The Rings.

I admit to crying at the end of Eureka Seven (First version of it, I have yet to see the movie or newer adaptations)

I liked the ending to Dragonage 2 and most people just didn't understand it lol scrubs.

I think League is better than DOTA 2 by a large margin but still enjoy watching DOTA gameplay anyway. DOTA's entry curve is more like an entry brick wall full of clunky mechanics and broken Heroes.

I like the sudden influx of JRPGs/Visual Novels on Steam and hope it continues. Anything that gives us Sunrider: Mask of Arcadius is alright in my book.

Finally, i'll bring out the weirder card and say I would rather play all 3 parts of Monster Girl Quest in one sitting (without the game overs) over any other legit JRPG. That game is amazing.

Star Trek :

I loved Voyager.
DS9 was Very good.
Enterprise was good.
Tng was ok (although the ent-d is my fave ship)
Tos had a few good episodes.

Gadgets :

I love my apple devices.( I say devices, i have 2 and one of those i don't use because it's old and lolimpoor) Androids are neat and all, but they don't come close for me.

Movies :

I actually didn't like Pacific Rim, and to be honest, enjoyed Transformers way more (So going to nerd hell for that one.)

I really don't like lord of the rings. I just find it really boring...

TV :

Big Bang Theory isn't that unwatchable for me. It's kinda fun to be able to get all the references most of the time. Sue me.

General :

Can't stand Batman . I just don't get him. His power is being super rich, but he never gets anything done. Whenever i hear somebody go "Well, I'M BATMAN" i keel over cringing.

Games :

Really don't like indie sidescrollers/retro/minimalistic games. Not saying they are bad, i'm saying that in 2008 i played games of similar/better quality on sites like Miniclip, for free. And now people are paying for them.

Actually thought the Modern Warfare series had a good storyline and a good ending.

I'm not that much of a HP fan so don't take this as me being white knight, but if you have never watched/seen/read it how do you know you hate it? Kinda reminds me of people who write reviews on amazon/metacritic starting with " I have never tried/played this but..." :p

- I think film is a genre and industry circling the drain of talent and creativity
- I don't like Dr. Who
- I detest most anime, and the few I do like I watch dubbed. No exceptions
- I think Brandon Sanderson is a great writer and I love his work
- I think JRPG's are largely as tedious, dull, and convoluted as their anime siblings
- I think Platinum Games are mediocre developers who simply do a good job at making OTT games, and can't do much else.
- I think the MOBA genre is everything I dislike about sports combined into one game type.
- I only like ~ 3 Legend of Zelda games. Ocarina of Time is not among them
- The best games engage in diegetic storytelling.
- Those games that are hailed for their great storytelling borrow the tools from other mediums that do it much better.
- The majority of nerd humor and comedy is absolutely cringe worthy
- The most humorous aspects of nerd culture are the critics who look down their noses at Marvel, Game of Thrones, Star Wars, and the other popular franchises/IP's

Could probably keep going, but that about does it for now.

I find The Lord of the Rings and similar settings to be really boring. I know that this is probably a case of "Seinfeld is Unfunny", a trope which describes a thing that seems really dull and overdone, but wasn't when it was first created, but it all seems so very unexciting to me. It's been imitated so many times that it seems completely generic.

I have no interest in Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad. I do not intend to watch (or read, as the case may be) them. There is nothing that interests me about either series. Game of Thrones in particular sounds like a big waste of time.
I also don't watch Dr. Who. There are a couple surreal elements that I happen to like, but the fanbase and sheer volume of episodes really turn me off. Especially the fanbase.

I thought that Final Fantasy 7 was really easy and pretty boring, for the most part. Even the bonus bosses gave me very little challenge. I also didn't like the visuals; the graphics weren't bad for the time, but they just look so... wrong nowadays. The music was the only outstanding part of the game, though Cloud's character arc was pretty good, and that one scene in that mansion's basement where Sephiroth lobs an object at Cloud's face and then flies off while lying perfectly still had me in stitches.

I enjoyed most of the pre-Colors 3D Sonic games. Heroes, Shadow, and Black Knight had some good ideas, environments and music, even if the execution wasn't great. I also feel that if Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic and the Black Knight in particular weren't Sonic games, they would have gone over much better.

I think that Harry Potter was shit after the third book. Part of what made the first Harry Potter books so great was that the world was so fantastic and wonderful; as the series got darker and more "mature", that sense of wonderment was lost. Admittedly, I was, and still am, far more interested in Harry's school life and the curriculum and dynamics of Hogwarts than I was in any of the stuff involving Death Eaters and Voldemort. I wanted to learn about the world; I didn't really give a damn about the specific people in it. As far as I was concerned, Harry himself was just a window through which to observe the workings of witchcraft and wizardry.

I think that Ocarina of Time, while revolutionary for its time and not a bad game by any means, is far from the best Zelda game. The best games are Wind Waker, Twilight Princess and Majora's Mask, in that order, and they are all leagues better than OoT.

I thought The Lord of the Rings trilogy is okay.
I have not seen the last two Harry Potter movies (i got bored of them).
I have not watched The Original Alien movie.
I hate Game Of Thrones (nudity, nudity, exposition, nudity)

I bought a used Xbox 360 for Duke Nukem Forever *runs from coming shitstorm*
I'm tired of Mario; Rayman Origins and Legends did it better
I don't like Team Meat's games
BattleToads is a shit game
I enjoyed Star Fox Assault and Turok: Evolution
GoldenEye on N64 is terrible

Agreed on the bad aspects of the yaoi-fandom (although the way the word is used to often just describe any male/male fiction or art not all of it is that bad. But depends on who you hang out with so...) but that's hardly something only yaoi-fangirls do.

That kind of heteronormativity is everywhere, and gay couples are constantly asked 'so which one of you is the man and which one the woman'.
Yeah, but all the yaoi fangirls I've met claim to be so supportive of gay people and still think like that. It's like me saying that I love black people because they're genetically superior at dancing.

Yeah, there definitely is that. (Although depends on who you hang out with. I usually don't talk that much with teenage yaoi fans.)

But, again, that's unfortunately not limited to teenage girls.
Just think of the general attitudes a lot of men have towards lesbians.
(And in my experience teenage girls are easier to talk some sense into when it comes to objectifying homosexuals)

I once sold The Misadventures of Tron Bonne and Mega Man Legends 2 for less than $5.
I traded my Dreamcast and 40 games towards the purchase of a PS2 and NHL 2002.
By 2010 I had spent over one year of real time playing one World of Warcraft character.
I haven't finished a Nintendo game since the NES and I don't feel like I've missed out on anything.
I lied about that last one. I completed Metroid Prime and Luigi's Mansion.

I have no nerd-sins, so now I'm going to throw nerd-stones at you all. That's how this works, right?

Oh, it's not?

When I hear nerd, I think basement dweller. I've always preferred geek for some reason.

Let's see...

-I don't like Star Trek much. Not sure why but I was never able to get into it, not TOS, not TNG, not Voyager, not DS9. The Abrams films were watchable, but didn't do much for me. I love Star Trek: First Contact though, just for this:

-There are only a handful of anime titles I can get into, most of them being "mainstream" (Bebop, GitS, DB(Z) for nostalgia value, some others that don't spring to mind...). For the most part I hate the voice acting in anime. Whether english or japanese. Just hate it.

-Never played a tabletop RPG. Helped a friend plan a space based one, but we never got around to playing/he never finished writing it

-I get no enjoyment from trading/collectable card games. I like traditional card games though (poker and the like)

-"Fantasy", for the most part, does nothing for me. If I wanted to hear stories about less technologically advanced civilisations, I'd open a history book. In fiction I want to explore the possibilities of the future. Admittedly, I'm in love with Game of Thrones, and wish it would hurry the hell up so I can read A Song of Ice and Fire.

-I've never read a superhero comic. I've read Scott Pilgrim, and some of the Futurama/Simpsons comics, and a wee bit of The Walking Dead.

-I prefer Stargate: Universe to SG-1 and Atlantis.

There's probably other stuff people would regard as sins, but that's all I can think of for now.

There are many reasons I dislike Big Bang Theory, but the biggest sticking point for me is this:
So it's a gross exaggeration, but god damn. The "live studio audience" laugh all the time. At things that aren't even funny. I just don't get it, it drags me out of the show. Mind you, if they weren't there...
The space monkey bit is the only bit that actually made me laugh.
