Well the thread is simple enough, post about weird things you do in certain games.

And I'll start.

In C&C: Red Alert 2, I like my bases to be neat and tidy. I line up my power plants and try and keep my base in a sort of sqaure shape. This obviously puts me at a disadvantage at times becuase my power plants are usually all clustered together. Same goes for base defenses, I usually like to have them in a neat formation.

Feel free to confess your gaming habits.

During my brief tenure playing Stranglehold, I took on an entire level killing people with just environmental kills to refill my bar, then crotch shots.

In RTS games, I also put my buildings in a neat manner. I wonder if all gamers have this secret habit?

When playing FPS (especially CoD4 and Halo 3), I sometimes make-up a story between why the two forces are fighting and what they're trying to gain out of the battle. Just to spice it up, you know?

I rarely play more than one game at a time (MP and SP are counted seperate from one another here, so I might play, say, N+ but nothing else SP while the only MP game I play would be, for example, TF2). This of course only relates to my games, on my systems, in my house. The rules change from place to place, and there are special exceptions made for other peoples games, systems, etc. I also never seem to finish a game unless I'm at least mildly addicted to it. That's why I never beat RE4, for example. I liked it and all, but I could go on living without it.

In the RPG's I have to organize my inventory my way so I'll always know what I have in an order even if it doesnt make sense to others. Same thing with abilities, if my guy can learn it I will teach it to them.

Also adventure rpg games I will be the guy running around in circles trying to find every bit of treasure or hidden item like in no more heroes(thankfully not as hard as GTA3), or Super paper mario that I run across the screen in 2d the 3d to make sure I'm not missing everything.

Edit: what the heck is spawn brooding?
No offense, but everyone does that.
Moving on, my odd habit it gaming at weird hours. Four in the morning?? Time for some Wild Arms 2 until nine, or whatever older/less flashy stuff I have on my shelf.

I'm a bit OCD when it comes to base layouts, mind. Its sort of... automatic.

As for my own input: I do that thing when playing third-person RPGs like Zelda or WoW especially, where I always have to run and jump at the same time when travelling, even though it doesn't really get me anywhere faster. I think it's just the sound of the roll I like. Heh.

I've been diagnosed with a minor case of OCD, and that really affects how I play.

In RTS games, I won't go into battle until I'm certain the Tech Tree has been fully explored. If there's a chance I'll need it, I want it available. And heaven help me if it's something like Starcraft where I COULD win early, but I'll go so far as to jeopardize my success to make sure all the little upgrades are done.

In MMOs or RPGs, I have to check and double check on my inventories to make sure nothing has changed, was added, or goes missing. And I have the bad habit of checking my "Friend's List" every five minutes to see who got on, ignoring that there's no one on it (or only a few) and the game will alert me when they get on, and I haven't seen the alert yet.

In MMORPGs I tend to imagine myself as a high lvl god that people whisper about...though I have a feeling I am not the only one who does that.

One thing I used to love doing in Counter Strike on the last kill ... no, not tea bagging, pfffffff. But to simply empty the remaning of my clip so you could hear the "click click" sound for a while, standing over my last victim. I really liked the feeling it gave ... felt like I was in a movie I guess or just some kind of psycho.
And I sweared I would never use the infamous AWP (not that it would do me any good, I suck with that damn gun), wathever the situation as well as the auto shotgun or the auto sniper. Which sometimes could have saved my life or turned the round in my favor but still I didn't touched it.

I can't think of anything for the moment.

I have a similar problem in regards to RA2, with bases and the like. Always neat and tidy... constructed in the same way. If there where roads, I?d build the base to match them on the map. Same with other RTS games. Units, however, are always all over the place in a way that makes no sense beyond the heat of the moment

Also, in RPGs, I try to save health potions and other limited use items. I'd rather die and reload, then spend 10-20 minuets repeating what I was doing sometimes rather than spend expandable assets. I blame this on another habit I have. Hoarding. In Morrowind, I had dozens of caches of crap I would never use, but kept anyway for the sake of having it. Or being able to sell it later. I hoard in any game I can, Stalker was another great one. . I see an RPG launcher, I?m never going to use it, ammo is rare and costly, its also heavy, but I want it anyway. So I dump some of my stuff, walk back through bandit infested areas to another cache and drop it there, walk back and keep on going. Spend 2 hours one night going back and forth between the areas moving all my crap to a new, larger cache.

Thing is? I ENJOY that?

Whenever me and my friends play Super Smash Bros (any of the three), we always try to be the person who gets the last hit in. Often times to us, that's more important than actually winning the game.

Well, to be gaming at all would seem to me to be a strange gaming habit...

However, I must confess! I enjoy cackling. Alot. Indeed, I had to pause in my typing due to said habit.

However, it's not really confined to games, so I suppose it doesn't count.

EDIT

In conclusion, this leads me to believe that I am one of two things:

Incredibly guilty, or
Far superior to everyone in every way.

KU KU KU KU KU KU.

in certain games like mostly rpgs I auto-arrange the menus a LOT. And I usually stand while playing.

Whenever I play Street Fighter 2 on Zangief's stage I always try and defeat him in such a way that he lands on the hammer and sickle of the USSR. Take THAT Communism!
