I've been watching his reviews and commentary ever since i stumbled onto the escapist. He's a great writer in my opinion and I really do like what he has to say most of the time.... but I'm really getting burnt out about how often he mentions and bashes the transformers movies, AND how often he nails Michel Bay.... I understand his hatred toward them (I barely notice they exist) but honestly its getting so repetitive. Is anyone sensing some kind of phobia... or locked away hate from him?

I think it's because he liked transformers as a child, and has taken it personally when Micheal bay made the movies that were esstentially mediocre at best.

Its like the people who openly and loudly yell about the horrors of homosexuality, until the night they are caught at the sleazy motel with the pool boy. I bet he secretly love Bay movies, but he's afraid it will destroy his credibility as a reviewer.

I think that although he's a good writer and all that, he spends too much time trying to be alternative and nerdy as a film reviewer. Michael Bay is pretty much a summary of everything that that persona stands against.

It's pretty much the best example of someone taking any random franchise they could think of that has some following attached and rebooting it into a generic action movie, so it's very easy to back up a point with. That and the fact that he was obviously very into it when he was a kid.

If people have the opportunity, they should always bash the Transformers films. I couldn't give two shits about the bloody toys or cartoons, but Jesus fucking H. those films are awful.

If I'm honest, I haven't really noticed him rag on them that much as of late.

In the realm of movies, it's a big, fat easy target. And some people can't resist taking a shot at it whenever the oppertunity presents itself.

I fucking hate the Transformers movies too, which is why I never talk about it...Except for just now.

I stopped caring what bob had to say after the maddening episode and his repeated saying of "the nineties sucked".

But I dont think he overly mentions the transformers movie in an unfair light.

Because its cool to hate and lots of people here didn't like it.

Which is ridiculous. Its like, what were you expecting from a Michael Bay film? He gave us a bare bones plot and blew stuff up, which is what he's good at. If you were expecting more its your own fault

Being a transformers fan, I don't expect much from Micheal Bay. And it more of pisses me off that he got the rights to make the movies instead of someone that cares.

Well lets see. He's the site's movie reviewer. Therefor, it's his job to point out and ridicule bad movies. The transformers movies were bad. Micheal Bay makes shitty movies.

Draw your own conclusions

I'm prett sure he takes movies seriously and he hates the fact that such a bad movie had such a big fan base. He also has eased up on making fun of Micheal Bay even apologizing for it in one of his videos.

not all movies have to be deep, though probing masterpieces. Most movie fans will have their own stash of guilty pleasures (on my list I have to admit are Hudson Hawk and Big Trouble in Little China)

But the Transformers movies go beyond summer blockbuster, beyond guilty pleasure, I mean they make Shark Attack 3: Megalodon, look good

This. One thing I can see eye-to-eye with him on. Those films are all kinds of terrible.

Everyone has their pet peeves. Most of the people I know have some subject or other they can be relied upon to rant about regularly. Bob is allowed to have his favourite rants too.

Besides, the movies did suck.
