I stopped caring what bob had to say after the maddening episode and his repeated saying of "the nineties sucked".
The nineties did suck.

The problem is he is too petty (I think that is the right word for it) too be truly trustworthy as a reviewer. But he is a critic, it's his job so while I don't trust him, I still watch his reviews.

Pretty much for the same reason a lot of people trash Call of Duty. It has a massive fanbase and it's blatantly average in comparison to a lot of other games. Oh and there's a very 'frat boy' demographic that's tacked onto both.

If not than then he seriously just hates having his childhood raped.

Its like the people who openly and loudly yell about the horrors of homosexuality, until the night they are caught at the sleazy motel with the pool boy. I bet he secretly love Bay movies, but he's afraid it will destroy his credibility as a reviewer.
Which in my opinion is BRILLIANTLY ironic, since his constant bashing of Bay and Transformers is at least half of what's destroying his reputation.

OT: All I see is a sad old nerd who can't let go of the past. For the record I do think he's a really well composed writer, it's just that he's just a bit too opinionated for my tastes. I prefer my comedian/writers to be more generally accepting towards just about everything, which I think makes for more clear and un-biased arguments.

That's actually very true. What's annoying about Call of Duty though is that videogames are still childish enough that this stuff gets praised by our most esteemed critics, almost no films fans hold Transformers in any regard.

I don't think I've ever heard any critic report it in a positive light, except for the action and explosions. The things that are in CoDs defence aren't there with Transformers eh.

I dunno, Bob has many faults, but overly castigating Michael Bay isn't one of them.

You can't overly castigate Bay. Bob could speak only the words, "Bay sucks!" repeated over and over for the rest of his life and it still would not be too much. Take a look at his filmography: The Rock. Armageddon. Pearl Harbor. Bad Boys II. You don't have to be an indignant transformers fan to see that Bay makes nothing but terrible movies. And yet somehow he keeps finding work and getting budgets, while directors who honestly care about quality storytelling have to struggle to find funding.
That's for the simple reason that they make tons of money. Making a movie is an investment and over at the financial department where they pay for the budget, they see Bay as someone who will reliably turn a profit. It's the fault of moviegoes really.

What I find confusing about Bay is his total lack of effort to improve himself in any way. If my entire filmography was plagued with justified bad reviews, I feel like I would probably try to take that on board and make the next movie better. It's like he decided he was going to only make money-spinning crap from the moment he got into the business.

Edit: I actually went and looked at Bay's website. I was surprised because he genuinely seems to think he's brilliant at his job.

From the Open Letter from the "Creative Community" (in brief: some directors don't want home media releases happening at the same time as theatrical releases because they will get less money).

"We are the artists and business professionals who help make the movie business great. We produce and direct movies. We work on the business deals that help get movies made. At the end of the day, we are also simply big movie fans."

"As leaders in the creative community, we ask for a seat at the table."

From an interview on his main page

"Question: Every time I hear you talk about the film, it seems like you took the criticism of the last one to heart."

I'm sorry, but what? The author of an opinion piece, who entire job is to make videos stating his opinion, is too opinionated for your taste? How does that make any sense? You prefer your critics to be less critical? He is supposed to be biased, no reviewer could ever hold a job by being generally accepting towards everything, that defeats the entire purpose.

Jokes about sexual preference aside, I watch MovieBob because I know his taste in movies is similar to mine. If he likes a movie, odds are good I will too. I share his hate for Bay and that travesty of a Transformers movie, even tho I know its mostly just nostalgia over a cartoon I watched as a kid that really wasn't as good as my memory of it is. I want to know what Bob's opinion is, that would be why I come here every Fri to watch his video.

yeah you called me out, I'm not gonna defend myself in any way other than I hadn't slept in about 32 hours before posting, so I was a bit out of it. Other than that I'm still too tired to care.
