Freeze?
What is this freezing you speak of? PC-games do not freeze, at least not when the install is done properly and you have not managed to infest it with viruses and trojans.
Then again, I tend to refuse to play games known to be buggy. KOTOR II was the only exception and even that one has no freezing/lockup/crashing problems without the variety of mods I install to restore content.
Liar, may I remind you of drivers and pesky background applications. Many a time have I been thrown to the desktop to click an ok box on WinPatrol, (not a crash but still), at the exact worse moment.
Then you have simply not managed to configure your OS properly.
Look, I'm not saying that crashes on PC are unheard of, I'm saying that personally, the last crash I had was over a year ago with a game that I had modded to hell and back.
The last time any program crashed on me was back in 2005, and the program in question was the Internet Exploder (I was downloading firefox with it.) I get no pop-up windows on the background while playing, because I've set up my computer so that it doesn't give me those when a fullscreen app is running.
And with the win7, microsoft has honestly reached almost Linux-level stability while retaining its 'install and ready to go' approach. If background programs are bothering you, its a simple matter to close them or reconfigure them to stop bothering you. On a PC, more often than not, PEBCAK: Problem Exists Between Chair And Keyboard. I my experience, these days it's extremely rare for a piece of standard hardware or your average game/program to cause problems, unless it was somehow caused by the user doing something idiotic by accident or by intention.
Naturally, exceptions exist, but I personally refuse to install games known to be buggy as heck due to rushed schedule and that have not yet gotten a patch out. I can wait for those usual 2-3 days/a week for that first critical patch to appear. And even when a game is buggy, it rarely simply crashes on me: usually there are simple in-game problems such as failed ragdoll physics or the graph engine going wild for a second.
