Isn't this the game where you can play a crazy vampire and have an argument with a stop sign? If so, buy it asap :)

Played it a few times. It is noticeably old but damn fun to play. Warrants a few playthroughs to see as much of the content as possible. And the choices you make in the game can have quite an impact on the story and gameplay when the plot draws to a close. Don't know a whole lot about the patches though. I am considering getting some for my copy as there are some minor bugs that require fixing.

The mods also sound really good, I'm quite exited about that companion mod actually.

I would recommend trying it before you shell out the $20 on Steam. Also, I recommend you play with the latest unofficial patch (in + mode)

As demanding resource wise as Half Life 2, so not very demanding. I have an original copy so I don't know what differences there are between this and the Steam version. I've patched it up and still play it occasionaly, it is one of the best RPGs ever made. Right up there with System Shock 2, Planescape: Torment, and Arcanum. In the vanila there are some unavoidable combat parts towards endgame that are a pain when you have a persuasive build. The unofficial patch may have fixed these, I'm not sure. (I last played a Nosferatu so I was all about stealth kills.)

You need to play it, through any means you deem.
BUT, do not play as the Nosferatu, or especially Malkavian first. After playing the Malkavian, you wont want to play any other way!

The first time I played Bloodlines it was on a PC close to the minimum system requirements, the game looks alright even if I didn't have all of the fancy options on, and it ran smoothly, but boy were the level loads deadly.

My original character was a Malkavian and I had a lot of fun, but I'd actually suggest you hold back on them for a second play through.

you have to get it it is an awesome game ive played it with the true patch gold (just the parts to make it work on my machien at first then with the extra content)and it definitaly deserves a couple of play throughs
the true patch gold comes with a nocd .exe which bypasses the CD and steam so it wont ware it out since the disks are nigh impossible to get theases days and some people report save corruption with steam

and the soundtrack is good too

Silly kine, always asking silly questions.

(You can use a program for the Field of View, which I would recommend.)

Wow, judging by these posts this game is even better than I thought from other places. It seems at least on this site more people seem to like it than the Witcher which was a good game.

But still, my main concern is whether this game will work. I watched a video on youtube of someoen playing with an intel integrated graphics and it looked fine and I think an older card I will be using. It seems that Windows 7 has problems but can be worked around from whwat I read online. So, I think I will get this game even though I hate when PC games don't have demos.

Anyways, Steam or Direct2drive or some other online store?

My only experience digital downloading has been GOG which I used because it seemed the least intrusive with unlimited downloads, no drm, etc. I want to know which is better to choose among Steam and Direct2drive or they pretty much the same?

It's a great game and the worth the risk of it not working, considering how cheap it probably is now.

It works on Windows 7, and as long as you patch it; it runs fine.

I was pretty sick of vampires when I got the game, but the dialogue is top notch and I became a believer quickly.

Oh my windows may be 64 bit... if that changes anything? No clue. I just am very cheap and hate the idea of wasting 20 bucks.

I know this an old topic by now but just want to say I got it on the steam sale and the game works fine with just changing the compatibility settings. It is so far very fun. =)
