In my opinion, the PS4 is the greatest console that was ever created. Waaayyy better than the XboxOne.

Okay, so I'm done pretending that I'm a Sony fanboy. But I am looking to buy one eventually, and after all I've seen, i just really cant see why anyone would buy the XboxOne when the PS4 was cheaper, is more powerful, has a proclaimed "greatest controller ever", doesn't have a power brick, didn't do dumbass shit before it launched, has no Kinect, and looks cool as fuck. Of course there are the games, without them the consoles are useless. But even then I cant think of any game that would make me want to get an XboxOne. Titanfall looks nice, but meh, Sunset Overdrive seems to be weird for the sake of being different, and Halo is nice I guess but not nice enough to make me deal with a powerbrick the size of a shoe and a controller that feels more suited to a gym than a living room. I think console wars are stupid and meaningless, but from a normal non-biased person's standpoint, the XboxOne loses in every way. What do you guys think? If you bought an Xbox, what convinced you?

Although the PC gaming master race is of course far superior in every possible and imaginable way....
I'll agree with the PS4 looking much better than the Xbone this generation. I was thinking i'll skip both consoles but if I change my mind then it will be a PS4 I get.

The only possible reason I could see to get an Xbone is if their was a certain exclusive that I really really wanted. I can't think of a single game that would be good enough to convince me though.

I bought and went back to the 360 because it didn't force me to install all of my games. I like my PS3 but I hate how I have to wait hours-upon-hours for my new game to install and, update. My Wii U doesn't do that either and what's more, Wii U is completely backwards compatible. So far my favorite console of the now-current generation is the Wii U. I don't need to be online, I can catch up on the Wii games I missed, the virtual console is slowly getting better (though the Wii's VC is still miles better)...When I do get a PS4, it won't be until late next year or early 2016. Whenever Killzone and, Second Son hit the $20 mark and, Alien: Isolation is similarly cheap, that's about when I'll start considering getting one. Also waiting on Kingdom Hearts 3 and, Final Fantasy XV.

Is that a digital-download perk? Never happened in my life.

Shock of all shocks it was the games! :O

Going by your definition, I must be some sort of weirdo for liking the games on it.

I'll buy an xbox one just for halo 2 anniversary. Other than that i'll slap an gtx 970 in my PC and bask in the glory of being a PC gamer.

Still on the fence and realistically have at least a year before investing in another console (especially as I only got a Wii U a few months back) However...

Sunset Overdrive looks great; colourful, with a sense of humour and hopefully a good mixture of shooting and trick mechanics.
Forza Horizon 2 is also looking good (and Forza 5)
Ori and the Blind Forest looks absolutely stunning.

The only issue is that all these games are also available for the 360, so I could still get the prev-gen versions and still jump ship to Sony. We'll see...

I also am trying to loose weight with Kinect fitness games, so I'm probably about the only person on this site who actually considers it a plus.

There's very little chance of me getting a console this generation, but if I were, I would choose the Xbox. Why? Well, I'm not too bothered about the graphics thing, simply because: they both suck in comparison to PC (my main platform) so it doesn't really matter I wouldn't be getting all that many games on it. I personally think Microsoft does a better job of integrating all their services together. I also think the Microsoft/Xbox store is better, as well as the xbox dashboard in comparison to Sony alternatives. However, those are based on my observations from the last generation, things may have changed. Lastly, I like the xbox controller a lot better than PS4's. I will give the PS4 the edge on one thing: it has one of the best games I have ever played. (Towerfall: Ascension.) However, given that this game is also on Steam and I only play it with my mates anyway, its not exactly a defining reason to buy a console.

All that said: PC is still the best platform in my eyes. It's not for everyone, but in Pro vs Cons I'd say it trumps the alternatives. Had to get my obligatory 'elitist' statement in or else Gaben would revoke my PC MasterRace membership at the next meeting.

I still can't decide between the two. Price isn't much different between the two at the moment. Power doesn't concern me too much, if it did I'd get a PC. The main factor of course is games. I'd probably end up being happy with either I get and just be a little disappointed on missing out on a few exclusives. It's just deciding which exclusives I would miss less.

I'm wanting to go for a Wii U and XB1 with PC in the mix this generation, the PS4 doesn't really have anything of interest to me, maybe later on nearing the end of this generation I might.

That said the most expensive part of all this is going to be the PC build since most of the parts still in use are outdated and won't run this years let alone next years games and it's not exactly got me filled with joy considering it's the most expensive part, the Wii U would be considerably cheaper out of my choice with the XB1 being 2nd and PC third.

Listen bud this is the escapist so the term is platform wars as you'll find little in the way of "console warriors" on here.
PS4 is the better total package, but the Wii U is essential for anyone who doesn't see themselves as "too cool" for the classics. Xbox One has its own merits if you're into what they have available (more so if you don't have a Gaming PC).

However my advice would be to buy everything you want like I do, you'll start seeing things more clearly that way, more fun too.

All the consoles suck this generation, with the PS4 being the least suckiest by the narrowest of margins. At this point I'd say it's time to find a new hobby before the new games hard locked at 30FPS standard makes my eyes bleed.

PS4 controller is lush tbh. also the share button is addictive.

yeah and just value wise PS+ shits on anything any other console offers. MS's counter to PS+ is at best piss poor.

I think I'd rather choke on a Wii Mote than use a Dualshock for my main console, especially given that the Wii U and Xbox One controllers are so wonderful. Obviously that was sarcasm, but I do despise the Dualshock controller. I hated the first thumbsticked one on my PS1, I hate the Dualshock 2 and I despise the Dualshock 3 because those triggers couldn't even save it (and shooters still demand you use R1 a lot).

I dunno, I'll wait until the PS4 has any games that interest me, 'cause I don't give a fuck about resolution and frame rates (and at least on my Xbox One, it's rather consistent anyway).

Okay, so as someone who has used an Xbox for a very large majority of my gaming life, the PS4 looks unappealing. That is not to say that the PS4 is a bad console, no, not at all, it is better than the Xbox One in a lot of ways, including hardware, but I would never get one. The problem stems from the fact that the majority of the exclusive games for the PS4 are games that are already part of a pre-established franchise (ie Uncharted, God of War, Killzone), and I have played a whole none of these games. Talk about an Xbox One, and I have already played all of the Halo games, and I have already played all of the Gears of War games, and I really enjoyed the first Crackdown game, so I know where the games are and where they're going. When I talk about whether or not to get a current-gen console, the PS4 just isn't a factor. I don't care about the fact that it has better hardware. I don't care that it is cheaper. I don't care that Microsoft had a shitty vision for the platform (If reports are to be believed, Sony were going to pull the same shit, just never announced it and patched it out.). I don't care about the Kinect. What I do care about are the games, and I just have no real connection to anything that the PS4 has to offer, because quite honestly, I would just much rather play Halo. Another thing is that I just love the controller. The 360 pad was the controller of the last generation (the Dualshock 3(?) was a baby controller for baby hands, and the new version just looks UG-LAY), so if it ain't broken, don't fix it, so the Xbox One pad is still a damn good one.

That said, I probably wont get an Xbox One. Mostly because I don't have £300 lying around, and if I did, I would probably just by myself a new GPU. That and I cant justify getting a console for just one game. Maybe in a few years. Maybe. But yes, if you put a gun to my head and told me to get a console, I would go for the Xbox One any day of the week.
