So, the other night I watched a film called Constantine, the one starring Keanu Reeves? And after watching it, I didn't know what to think. I didn't know if I like it, or hated it, or it left me saying WTF?! I suppose the story was good and stuff, but I want to know, did it offend any Christians? Did you like it? Or are you sitting there saying whats Constantine? Wasn't he a Pope or summat? Go Escapist goers!

Yeah, I know, this'll probaby get locked.
I'm Christian, and I thought it was BAD ASS.

It was pretty good. I suspect that comicbook fans might think otherwise, but I never read any Hellblazer, so I did like the movie. Keanu was mediocre as usual, but Peter Stormare was freaking awesome. Also as usual.

God and the Devil making a bets?
Not really a new concept. Very old in fact. Ever heard of Job? Supposedly he got tortured by Satan with permission from God, to see if his faith would hold.

Comics called Hellblazer, sorry I just really like it.
Sorry about the mistake re: Hellblazer.
Thankyou for correcting me before I really embarrassed myself.
I will remember in future.

I thought it was ok. It wasn't awful, but it had nothing to do with the comics, which are awesome.

Keanu Reeves? Seriously?

James Sunderland?

It played loose and fast enough with actual Christian beliefs for me to not care. For a major example, Constantine's main problem, and the reason he is doing everything, is atonement in the eyes of God. However, let me quote the awesome as always Roger Ebert: "Strange that there is a priest, since that opens the door to Catholicism and therefore to the news that Constantine is not doomed unless he wages a lifelong war against demons, but need merely go to confession; three Our Fathers, three Hail Marys, and he's outta there."

It was OK.
Interesting (enough) story, fun action, steeped in Catholic lore. It was a 'fun' movie.

I don't get why people are to militant about Shia LaBeouff, though.
Now Ben Affleck...there is someone to be militant about.
You are just emotionally scarred because you sat through Pearl Harbor.

Ugh, Keanu Reeves... When they announced that he was playing Spike in the live action Cowboy Bebop, my face exploded, then imploded, then exploded again.
WHAT? I can't decide if i'm horrified or excited at a live action Cowboy Bebop...
Keanu = Spike though.... erm!?!?!

EDIT: Damnit I should have just edited the previous message
Steve Blum, the guy who does the VO of Spike in the anime, has the smoothest, most silky voice ever. And then there's Keanu Reeves... who sounds like a depressed rock.
Or a man who has been repeatedly hit on the head with a rock. Take your pick.
