Authority always bothered me. Not teachers, or policemen, not good ones anyway. No, it's the invisible authorities than bother me. The cameras, the government, big companies. They want control of my life, seem to want to ruin it, and I can't do anything. If a policemen wants to arrest me without charge, I can fight back, hell, technically, I'm civilly encouraged to fight back. A big company or the government decides to bring the hammer down, cancel my bank account, cut off my internet, ban me from shops, so on, I can't do anything back. The courts? they are the f***ing courts.

At the moment I'm doing a film project in two weeks because I needed advice on it, and the uni refused to help until just last week. If I fail, some invisible exam board gets to decide whether I can continue. I can't convince them. I can't reason with them. I can't threaten them. They are my faceless enemy. Appeal system? again, courts. They own the courts. The government will ruin my life if they get the chance. They always took the opportunity in the past.

I can't focus. I can't work. I need to put this hammer over my head out of my mind so I can escape it. How can I do that?

Sounds to me like you are paranoid. Not much i can do to help that, see someone more specialised.

And this was brought on by your uni work? All i can suggest is work your ass off.

I think I understand your position. You feel afraid about what the invisable will do because you can't fight back, a reasonable fear. Their authority comes from the people. If they make a decision you disagree with, let the public be your court!

I'm no psychologist/psychiatrist, so I'm not the final say so. But I am studying psychology right now, and I feel I know enough to suggest that you should see some help.
It sounds to me like you have some pretty serious paranoia. Your irrational fear of an inivisble authority out to get you is unhealthy, and borderline delusional. You may have paranoid or schizotypal personality disorder, or even worse: paranoid schizophrenia. With you being a uni student, that is about the right age as when symptoms in these disorders appear. And symptoms can be triggered and worsened by stress, like the stress of your project.

My advice is to go see a a professional. Please. Whether it be a counselor, therapist, or doctor. You can trust them. If you don't, go to someone who you can trust, like a friend, professor, or family. And just tell them about this paranoia.

The hardest part will be for you trust getting help, and your paranoia will only worsen, making it harder for you seek help or realize that you have a problem. I know your project is important, but right now your health is way more important.

?That sounds rather close to paranoia dude. If you find yourself excessively worrying about such things, then try and seek professional help. Escapist members, while a lovely bunch of people, sadly are not psychiatrists.

Best advice I can give you is to try and look on the bright side; corporations, governments, etc, generally will not f*** you over, even if they have the power to do so, because it simply is not in their interests to alienate their support base. Sure, individuals may be dicks, but the system as a whole would be royally screwed if they started doing such things on a massive scale.

Basically, people shouldn't be afraid of their government; governments should be afraid of their people.
