Yeah, the bass (and some guitar) is going to be the other aspect of the songs. I'm aiming for something incredibly dirty and distorted, probably more ambient and droning than anything else but I haven't started writing that yet.
I don't know about contacting developers, I kinda dislike the constant association that chiptunes have to videogames. I much prefer seeing albums that are just songs in their own right, rather than being a soundtrack to whatever game.
