I just received a message from Orange(my mobile network provider)....they are increasing the price of my plan by 4.34% in Feb!
I think I'll just decrease the price of my plan by 100%!
If they can just randomly alter a contract I've signed then so can I!!

Seriously though, I have signed a contract to pay a set price per month for XX minutes and XX texts per month (which I rarely go over) and get charged for minutes and texts over the allowance....yes all faie enough this was all stipulated in the contract, however for whatever reason Orange are upping the price they are now charging. I assume it's everyone and not just me.

How are they allowed to do this just because they decide?

I signed up to do a fitness course about 6 months ago that I can no longer afford so wanted to back out but as I'd signed a contract I couldn't yet it seems that companies can change their contracts as and when it suits!

It turns out this is "not sufficient grounds to cancel your contract with us".

Despite the fact the contract you signed is actually null and void thanks to these changes. Cool story, orange

There's probably a clause in the contract that says the company can do whatever the hell they like and if you don't like it you get to eat shit.

Reminds me of that xbox LIVE customer who sued Microsoft for some contractual technicality.

This is why you should actually read the entire contract before signing. ALL companies that do contracts and EULA's ALWAYS have a clause that allows them to change the terms of the contract at anytime.

BUT, if the contract/EULA is changed, and has to be agreed to again, you have the right as a consumer to not accept the service, thus ending the contract. Contract/EULA changes affect both parties, you do have the right to not accept new terms, and stop using the service. (Of course, that all depends on the country you live in as well.)

I've done a bit of snooping and apparently their 'like it or tough shit' attitude is wrong and you can complain to OFCOM.
Will need to dig a bit more for more info but it's still horseshit!
I can't change my end of the contract so why should they!

They've pretty much made a new contract and are saying you signed the last one so we are signing this one for you!
