First time I looked at the trailer for Bioshock Infinite, my thoughts were one, and one only: "what if this was the moment that made Andrew Ryan decide that American values are corrupt?"

So I started imagining a little cameo at the end, where a little Andrew Ryan leaves the destroyed city, holding in his hand a snow globe filled with water, with the image of a city which looks exactly like Rapture, while his parents say something like: "We need a new beggining", followed by child Ryan staring his snow globe.

So, what are the plot twists you would like to see happening. Can be old games, current games, or even games that haven't yet been released.

P.S: Extra points if you don't mention Mass Effect 3.

Ha, no ME3, huh? Can't imagine why...

OT- I know a lot of people thought that Vaas from Far Cry 3 would turn out to be some kind of fight club-esque version of the main character. Fortunately they didn't go that way because it would have been bloody stupid.

As for a twist I would like to see? Hmm... given what happened in Hitman: Absolution, the revelation that Diana has some means of controlling 47 would certainly change the dynamic between them.

That's a cool suggestion for Bioshock Infinite.

Mine is about Half Life 2. G-Man turns out to be an alien that exists outside of what we know as dimensions, so is able to see the factors that separate one universe from its' limitless parallels. He can't directly produce an outcome within one of those universes, but can make minor changes that lead up to some desired result. So he places objects and people within certain situations, arranges events a certain way, all with the intention of destroying the Combine. He lured the humans to Xen, lured the Combine to Earth, and kept a few key figures safe or out of harms way (or in space-stasis) until just the right moment. That's why everything in Half Life 2 seems to happen in such a convenient way.

And here's the kicker. Because G-Man is walking between parallel dimensions, refining everything to JUST the right arrangement of events, that means that every time you as a player die, it's because you exist in one of the doomed parallel universes. Billions of Gordon Freemans in billions of universes died fighting the Combine and failed to bring about its' destruction. But in one universe, effectively one players' unbroken save file, Gordon Freeman defies all odds and succeeds. Basically, let's say Gordon has a 99% chance of failure. The Law of Large Numbers in probability theory states that given enough tries, that 1% outcome will show true. The games full narrative is essentially this 1% chance.

YOU ACTUALLY TURN OUT TO BE THE VILLAIN, AND DIDN'T KNOW IT THE WHOLE TIME.

This actually happens in a few games that I won't mention for spoiler's sake, but you might be aware of that. And they were awesome.

Fuck.

I dunno. But I am getting sick and fucking tired of that horror trope where "guuuuh, it was aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaall in your head!" because it's a unique idea that can be well executed but has been used so much you can basically go into any random game or movie and if you see something weird happen, big surprise, probably in their head.

Well this is a delicate pickle. I really want to play those games now.....but now they've essentially been ruined for me......

Ah what the hell. Can you PM what games you're talking about? Or just spoiler them here

That's what I was actually planning on saying.

How about a game where the first play through has you inevitably fail (Read: Get killed) only to then realise that you were having a premonition and have to prevent what happened from coming true.

I'd like to see more games stop being so unrealistic and idealist, and admit that the player can't get everything right all the time.

The whole game is a very real and gritty take on what would happen to a world where people suddenly develop superpowers. It wouldn't be this clean, neat line between what's right and wrong to do, and doing the right thing wouldn't always be something people supported you for doing.

The point of the whole ending, which is one of the greatest twists ever, is that the villain, Kessler, and the hero, Cole, are the same person. Kessler went back in time and orchestrated the events of the entire game, killing thousands of people and making Cole's life turn to shit - the media hates him, his girlfriend leaves him and he is forced to sacrifice her, people die and there's nothing he can do about it, etc. All of this was meant to harden Cole into someone who wouldn't be attached or invested in the real world when the time came that he would need to save it from this apocalypse-bringing figure called The Beast.

In short, I just games to drop the idea that the player is always doing the right thing and that everything always works out so well. Spec Ops: The Line did this as well, and it was effing amazing. Imagine if you had a whole roster of artists and game devs working on stuff like that.

I'd like a game that doesn't involve an associate inevitably betraying you. It is the default plot twist of video games - in fact, it's so expected, it isn't a twist at all. Having a character who doesn't betray you would be a twist.

A twist I would have liked to see, would come in a COD or MOH mission. It promises you that you're about to go off and kill a bunch of muslamic turrists or whatever, only to have chain of command cancel the mission before you've even seen a single enemy. You get back in the APCs, and get returned to base. Bored and frustrated, you have to spend the rest of the day clowning around, trying to pass the time like a real soldier. You do various things, like shove over a porta-toilet whilst someone is inside it, have inane conversations with your mates, and play video games on an ingame xbox.

Actually, that would be pretty funny... I WANT THAT IN MW4![footnote] Still not gonna buy it, MW2 was my last IW game.[/footnote]

I'd love to see an Xcom where after you finished the aliens your human allies decided to attack you.

...And it turns out THE WHOLE THING WAS A DREAM!!

Just kidding. How 'bout a Mario game that ends with Mario finding letters addressed to Bowser from Peach, explaining how to break into the Castle and when to "kidnap" her. The whole purpose being that the two get a kick out of watching people needlessly risk their lives to save Peach.

Upon learning the truth, Mario goes on a homicidal revenge quest and finally offs Peach once and for all. And they all live happily ever after.

I actually know of a game like that or at least I think I do but once again you'd have the same problem what with the twist being spoiled already.

And then when you make a counter-attack against every country and neutralize all of them it turns the Council was just manipulating you to take over the world for themselves.

If there is ever a Saints Row 4 I would like to have Saints Row the Third be all a drug induced dream that all the main characters had. It would be great Gat would still be alive, the story could actualy continue of trying to find the rest of the old saints and most importantly we can all pretend that SR3 never happened.

A game where you play as a male and in the end it's a mission impossible style mask, and you're actually female (or vice versa).
Metroid say hi to you. It isnt a spoiler because everyone knows that already.

Here is a twist of mine: The voiceless grunt that you have been playing all along in this FPS actually CANT talk because he has a fucked up machine stuck in his throath that makes him breath but unable to use his vocal cords. You find this out when you look at a broken mirror all while your avatar starts to cry in horror to what he has become. This game will have body awareness and moments where your avatar moves by itself, so obviously its needed to show (without leaving the perspective) how broken this person is.
