-snip- Raptors may not be very cool by modern standards, but Jurassic Park Raptors were based of the Deinonychus, which was the size of the Raptors in JP, ergo, Deinonychus is cool and the creatures based off it are also cool. -snip-
Evidence suggests that Deinonychus also had feathers. Besides, if the things in Jurassic park were supposed to be Deinonychus, why not call them Deinonychus? I'll tell you why: because they were just making shit up in accordance with what they thought looked and sounded cooler. The only similarities they had to either Velociraptor or Deinonychus were the sickle claw because unfortunately the Jurassic park team didn't think creatures resembling large turkeys were cool enough. That picture you posted is also outdated and inaccurate, and looks as though it has been taken from a children's book. I didn't fall into a trap. You're just wrong.

Puns aside, I think the ice hotel is pretty damn cool.
Actually, ice is pretty cool in and of itself[footnote]That looks odd written down, but I swear it's a legitimate phrase.[/footnote]. It's water, but in a crystalline matrix that only forms when the molecules lose energy and start to pull together.

OT: This. Simply this.

You're welcome.
I see your Tyrannosaurus-in-fighter and raise you Napoleon:

I'll see your Nepoleon Dinosaur cavalry and raise you a. . . this thing.

I don't know what it is, but it fucking rocks.
I trump this with...

I can think of three things which I consider to be cool. (In my opinion of course.)

From Hitman Reborn the Vongola family's first cloud guardian Aluade.

Of course who can forget how awesome this image is.

Lets face it we will never be as cool, as a Gorilla high fiving a shark.

Finally and I can't believe that this guy hasn't been mentioned yet.

For me, there is a difference between awesome and cool. Pirates are awesome, Ninjas are cool. Sci-Fi is cool, Fantasy is awesome.
Magic seems to have the potential to fill either the cool or the awesome criteria for me, but generally lean towards awesome (fireballs are far more common than, say, waterbending-style magic). Undead skeletons seem to have the same, yet opposite effect, potential for either but usually end up being cool (i think it's numbers and type here. Smaller numbers of human skeletons are more prominent and cool, while legions of mixed skeleton types is scarce but tends to be awesome).

Interesting then, that someone (Derek Landy) decided to come up with an undead skeleton sorcerer detective as a main character for his books. Not only is he a skeleton sorcerer, but he is sarcastic, suave, sophisticated, shrewd intelligent and has a bloated ego. Along with that he is a practitioner of elemental magic, a master of several martial arts, carries a revolver at all times, and a sharp dresser. The fact that he is a brilliant detective (giving him a certain film-noire aura) adds to his coolness factor, and is the thing that tips him to be more cool than awesome, though he has enough of both to out-rank most other stuff/characters i know of in either category.

The left picture is official (on the cover of the first book), while the second is fanart (the URL gives credit to VanKid, so i will too)
I didn't anyone else here knew about Skulduggery Pleasant, let alone would ninja my answer.

In that case, I'll go with Clone High.
I found out about it a few days ago, found out it was cancelled in 2003 and am sad already. Doesn't stop it being awesome.
I demand you all go watch it. Now. Do it.
