Good: A Bard's Tale- and indeed the game was a Bards Tale
Bad: SWTOR, just cause I heard someone at Gamefest pronounce it like "oh you mean, swot or"

If that bit of video game trivia doesn't do it for you, I've got a Pac-Man fact that'll blow your mind...
blow my mind, it's a wednesday I can take it!
Maybe he means that it was originally going to be called puck-man but they changed it after they realized you can scratch out part of the P, or maybe that the character was inspired by a pizza missing two slices?

The Good:

Carmageddon - the tagline was my favourite: "Racing Game For The Chemically Imbalanced"
I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream
Altered Beast - always made me think about the movie Altered States for some reason

The Bad:

Wolfenstein (newest), Tomb Raider (newest), Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit (newest), yeah you probably get the idea

The Ugly:

Conker's Bad Fur Day

Company of Heroes is by far my favourite game title. It's from a quote from Band of Brothers, a book which gets some mention, in the form of the mission, in the game itself.

Something along the lines of

"Granddad/father/pa, were you a hero in the war?"
"No, but I served in a Company of Heroes."

Good: Silent Hill (the very name inspired dread in me when I first played it)

Bad: Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney (love the game, but the subtitle Ace Attorney is a great way to put people off in my opinion)

Seems like no attack on the beloved Final Fantasy goes undefended. I don't really have a problem with the Final Fantasy title, I was just checking if there were any fanboys around.
That is completely non trollish/prickish.

Full Spectrum Warrior and Half Life I thought were good names.

Try "Hidden and Dangerous" for a bad title. It's almost like you could plug any two adjectives in there and get a name just as coherent and appropriate for a tactical shooter: "Furry and Disoriented," "Bulky and Debonnaire," "Zesty and Supreme."
Okay, Furry and Disoriented is now the title of my currently-undeveloped Third Person shooter where you play an American POW who's genetics serve as a template for a half-human, half-animal super-soldier by some evil African or Non-chinese Indo-asian government. (Who "wakes up" thinking he was merely changed into a monsterous half-human warrior, but then meets himself.)

On-topic:

Good name: Over the Road Big Rigs Racing - a shame the "game" wasn't even worth the packaging.

Bad name: Two Worlds.

Dude, if you make it, I'll play it.

There is a game called "CSI: 3 Dimensions of Murder"

That name is so terribad it made me buy the game (protip: the game is terribad too)

Me being really nitpicky:

The combination of "Diablo 2" and its expansion "Lord of Destruction" bothers me, because Diablo is the Lord of Terror and Baal is the Lord of Destruction and the combination just looks so wrong to me and oh man, I am the saddest case of a fangirl in the history of times for being bothered by that.

On a positive note:

I always like the name "Dungeon Siege", 'cause it pretty much sums up the game.

I'm also nitpicky like that, mostly when it comes towards subtitles like Dues Ex: Human Revolution. Overused words like revolution, revelation, resurrection, and what else mostly started with R annoy me.

Dumb: Tactics Ogre
Awesome: Let Us Cling Together
Dumb: Every Kingdom Hearts game.
Awesome: Final Fantasy
Dumb: Final Fantasy Versus XIII. Yeah, I get it, considering the two lead characters, but that doesn't change the fact that we need to stop letting Tetsuya Nomura make game titles. Or write games, for that matter.
Awesome (but for no particular reasong): JRPG titles tend to do this a lot: Ar Tornelico: The Girl Who Continues To Sing At The End of The World (literal translation of the first game's title). Resonance of Fate. Star Ocean. Tales of the Abyss. I could just keep going.

Final Fantasy XXXXXVIII

Seriously though, when exactly are they going to get to the FINAL part of Final Fantasy?
58 is LVIII. The 40th FF will probably be a big one, because it'll be called Final Fantasy XL. It comes out in MMXXXII for the Xbox DCCXX.

Some of my favourite game titles are Metal Gear Solid and Grand Theft Auto, because they sound cool.

My favorite title of all time: "Hexen: Deathkings of the Dark Citadel"

I'm uncertain as to whether the Touhou Project game titles are awesome or awful such as: "Lacking Perception of the Rule of Heaven in the East ~ Chase the Enigma of the Superdreadnought Guignol"

I always thought Chromehounds was a good title for a game. Although metal+animal is always a winner. Take the band Steel Panther. The phrase 'brass monkey'. And, of course, the actual Golden Eagle.

As for crap titles, Z was just downright lazy.

Actually if you knew the story as to why the series is called Final Fantasy it might completely change your mind on that. It's actually pretty cool when you understand it and a very good title name.
Yeah, but don't you think in the 20-odd years since they released the second or third they could have made some kind of announcement saying they were deciding to change the name? And why do people keep buying them? I can't get through half of one of their games past the first without becoming completely and utterly bored.

1) That's the name of the product, as it was when it sold tons originally. I mean if Digiorno changed their name I'd probably start buying Freschetta. Never under-estimate the power of brand recognition.

2) It's a good thing you and I don't count for their entire fan base, as millions of other people CAN play through without getting bored. Sometimes more than once I hear! Games like God of War bore the crap out of me too so I don't expect everyone to agree on the formulas for awesome game making/playing.

I also point on the Final Fantasy over 9000. Since Square tries to imply that they all take place in the same universe / planet it is kind of odd to call them FINAL Fantasy...
What you talkin' about, Willis? I've only played FFXII and a bit of FFXIII and I can honestly tell you that they aren't even remotely trying to pretend that they take place in the same setting. Kinda on topic, but FFXII had solid names for it's settings (Ivalice, Archades, and Damascus to name a few). FFXIII's, from what I've played, were flat-out stupid (Pulse and especially Cocoon).
