Good morning Escapists.

Registered to say Albion.
Its an awesome RPG by Blue Byte from 1995.
It has one of the absolutely best gameworlds I've ever seen, the music, environment, culture and characters are just fantastic.

Its actually available at abandonia so if anyone wants to try out this gem you are in for a treat :)

Edit: grammar

4. Warhammer 40k... okay it's not a game *only* setting, but jeez, who would ever want to live in that setting? When the giant military dictatorship with a penchant for purging infidels and spanish style inquisitions is the *least* evil of the factions, you know you're screwed!
No, the *least* evil faction are the xenophobic, ethnic-cleansing weeboo space commies.

Nah, they're plotting something, just you wait and see. All friendly now, but next thing you know you'll discover Soylent Green is people and they've been eating people all this time out of some perverse urge to summon the god of evil or somesuch.

I read somewhere that they may be unwittingly serving the C'tan and the Necrons, since they share some attributes (fear and loathing of the Warp, similar facial and cranial features, gauss weaponry, etc.) and that the whole "let's be friends... or else" gig is only so the Necrons can cake-walk across the galaxy.

Well, at least until the Tyranids have the Milky Way for breakfast.

I think Warcraft had a pretty awesome gameworld, i like that they went into detail with the backstory. I'm trying to avoid mentioning the mmo here although it is kind of what i mean :p
It's generally just nice that they put effort into the areas and didn't copy and paste the same theme 50 times.

Other than that Ratchet, Spyro, Half Life and maybe Bioshock.

1. No More Heroes. Everyone's an assassin. With a lightsabre!
2. Metroid. It's like Star Wars before it went shit.
3. Playboy mansion. I don't believe i need to explain this.
4. Mushroom Kingdom. Do they ever do anything cool? No. They just stand around and get attacked. By Turtles. How fucking lame is your kingdom when it gets overrun by fucking TURTLES?!?

Red Alert game world.

Sonic dolphins, Mind Control, Robot Spiders, Chrono Troops and more, all backed by a sweet soundtrack from Frank Klepacki.

Well I like many Gameworlds, Fallout (I love this universe), Mass Effect, Dragon Age, Gears of War, Starcraft(?), Deus Ex.

I can't think of any poorly done gameworlds off the top of my head, but I'm sure they exist. Anyway I would like to live in the Mass Effect universe if I had to live as an average person.

1. Oldest Pokemon games.
2. Fallout 3.
3. Brutal Legend, METAL, YEEEEEAAAAAH!
4. Fallout 3, because I'm afraid of supermutants and raiders (If I'm myself in the Capital Wasteland. If I'm my Fallout character, no problem at all.)

Coolest one: how about Fallout and Bioshock with their snazzy retro-appearance? I love art-deco, jazz, and neon signs.

Best one: the setting of Mass Effect is fairly realistic and consistent, well-written... it's the overall best one for me.

One i'd like to live in: a setting of Ratchet & Clank. Technology is indistinguishable from magic, Chaotic Good vigilantes find themselves at home here, and there's two eponymous protagonists running around. As if it was made right for me. Sure, it can be rough - but danger is a prerequisite for any kind of adventure.

One i wouldn't like to live in: obviously Warhammer 40k, obviously. For obvious reasons. And there are no Lombaxes in it, so FUCK NO!

[HEADING=3]BIG FAT DISCLAIMER: points 1 and 2 are not set in stone for me. 3 and 4, however, are. [/HEADING]

Final Fantasy X - the society and structure of that world is developed more than any other in the series (and more than most games).

Technically the best:
Assasin's Creed 2, those cities feel more alive than any other gameworld

Would like to live in:

Coolest:
