So today i was playing Bioshock 2 on my Xbox and i was playing for about 45 minutes and i made it from the beginning of Sirens Alley to the part where you are about to enter Dionisious park. Anyway i went to save and my Xbox froze and i rebooted to find that my data was corrupted. Now i have to start the game all the way from the begining. So have you guys ever had to start a game over or lost progress due to corrupted data?

Just yesterday my KotOR 2 save fucked up and I had to restart the game.
I don't really mind though, it's just another chance to use more mods.

I had the same with oblivion. I had to start again. My mages guild main questline glitched and now I can't progress. Bugger.

Oh. In ''Army men, Sarges Heroes'' for the PS1 aswell.

That sucks. That game seems to have far too many problems with freezing...

I've not ever encountered a corrupted save, but I remember a game a while back: Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy. That game has a horrible glitch where in if you saved during a certain mission, then exited the game, it became impossible to beat that stage and thusly you couldn't beat the game. Pissed me off..

I had two GameCube memory cards corrupt on me. It sucks to lose that much data.
That happened to me. Never the official ones though, the 3rd party ones are bastards for it though.

I lost an NHL 2005 season in which I played every game and was in the middle of the playoffs when my PS2 memory card corrupted and I lost the data. I'm glad that it was only the NHL data I lost though as I had a lot of other saves on that card.

Saved data on games isn't a big deal.

But if something was to happen to my PS3 so all my trophies would disappear at the exact same time that the Playstation website got destroyed by viruses, meaning that my trophies would be forever lost.... I would have to kill someone.

Anyone remember the Soul Caliber 3 problem that could corrupt your entire memory card?

I lost my GTA3 save back in 2001, that's about the only corrupt save file I can remember, I haven't had any recently.

Very rarely happens to me, but when it does, I lose a great deal of data/time/patience.

Especially when it happened in Oblivion, and I lost about 400 hours.

Back on a thousand-something block gamecube memory card, all the data on there was corrupted. Now I let my gamecube rot in a corner with its only company being cobwebs.

Maybe I'm just lucky, but in almost three decades of gaming, I can only remember one instance of a corrupted save, and that was with Stalker, and it was my own fault for messing up a patch install order.

The night the free DLC was released for Bioshock I decided to Iron Man one straight run through to get the 'Brass Balls' achievement. Got about an hour and a half in before saving, went to save it and my 360 went out like a light, no warning just black.

If you play games for a reasonable amount of time your going to encounter corrupt saves, so I guess the answer will be yes for the most part. All I can say is save often, over multiple save spots, and just prey you don't get visited by the gnomes of corruption.
