Could the Guitar Hero franchise be revived?

Copypasted directly from my blog nobody reads.

I'm sad that the Guitar Hero franchise ended, but I've thought of something that might rejuvenate the series--a game that, rather than focusing on classic music of days gone by, instead contains more modern songs by people of internet and gaming culture. I would buy that game on launch, instead of waiting for the price to go down like I usually do. Some examples of songs that could be good:

Talkin That Shit & Sarge's Blues -- Jeff Williams
The Ballad of Clay Carmine, Santiago's Lament, The Grind -- Miracle of Sound
Slow In Reverse -- The Keep (AKA Corridor Digital)
Noob Slayer -- Freddie Wong (Yes, it was written for Rock Band, but shut up I'm trying to revive a franchise)
Dead Space 2 LITERAL -- Toby Turner
Le Internet Medley -- The Gag Quartet
In Search of Diamonds -- Dead Workers Party/The Shaft
Rocket Man -- Performed by the Dead Workers Party/Control Point (okay, yeah, a piano song, but it's franchise CPR time)

Please, post song suggestions that you think would fit, and your feedback: would you buy this game, and why? I chose not to include a poll because I'd rather see users explain their opinions rather than just check a box and say nothing.

Doesn't seem like a game a "big shot" company could pull off, your idea seems like it'll fit in the indie category :p

Personally I think they should wait a while longer before reviving it if at all. It's just a huge button masher, wait for people to call it retro and cool before reviving it.

There was that year where about 11 rhythm games were released, and the sales were abysmal. Then no-one bought Warriors of Rock (I did on release...whoops) and Activision put GH 'on hold'. Harmonix did the same after bad RB3 sales I think.

Why the hell would you want to do that?

If they wanted to add some new, more modern songs then that's what DLC is for.

No , it was a fad and it has past ( thank goodness). Rythm games should not be revived for another 10 years or two generations ( whichever comes first), enjoy you classics , there are so many rythm games out it's not worth it , why do we need another guitar hero , theres tons of them out already . What are they goig to do ? Add graphics? I mean really.
