Could there be a rival to YouTube?

So it's been about 5 or so years since YouTube was launched. In that time, we've seen countless nutshots, rickrolls and YouTube poops. Do you think another site could be launched to take YouTube's place? I mean, FaceBook has already overshadowed MySpace and there are now numerous search engines (Google, Ask, Yahoo, Bing and others). Yes, I do know there are already a lot of similar sites out there but none of them have really eclipsed YouTube's popularity.

No. There could not. Even if a site came up that was better, YouTube is already known.
The only way it could happen, is if YouTube went bankrupt.

It is very unlikely that Google would allow something to best Youtube.
It would have to be a fantastic site that gained immediate popularity for it to have a chance.

Places like youtube are to hard to mod, which is why you see the douch bags there all the time. I mean they have people uploading porn every day. So for the mods that are there I am sure they have enough trouble deleting that shit. So even if there was something the eclipsed it, they would still have the same problem.

Well, there's Hulu & Veoh, but both won't let you put up whatever you want, there's the whole Google ownership, & even though there are more content-linient sites that Youtube, they lack the advertising the knowledge that they even exist, the popularity, the seasoned posters, & the volume of content.

I think the various adult rated imitators are actually pretty big rivals in terms of streaming user generated content sites.

I hate youtube. Its commenting system is awful. Which is why there are so many fucking retards clogging up the works. I hope something decent takes its place. But honestly... I doubt it. Loads of sites have tried. Most notable of which is probably Metacafe.
