Yes, but not with programming. They say its easy to write...but then why the hell are so many games filled with horrible, horrible dialogue/events? it can't be THAT easy.

I, and a group of people, are in the middle of attempting to do so. And I can program. So, we shall see.

The people who work on games for a living are trained professionals. Meaning they know how to make a game. They know how to make the game look good. They know how to make the game interesting. And perhaps most importantly of all, they know how to spell 'you' correctly. ;p

I doubt most of us would be able to do even one of those things right... [small]well, aside from that last one obviously...[/small]

Of course I can't. 99.999% of us who criticize games would make much crappier games if we were the CEO of a game development company.
QFT.

Most of us criticize developers when we don't even know how to make games ourselves, but I guess that's simply our job.

I'm pretty confident that I have the ability, since I'm planning on getting into writing stories for video games for a living, and HOPINNNNNNG to score an internship at Bioware. :O Maybe once I get high enough up in the industry, I could show someone the scripts I have for games. I think they're both interesting and marketable, if I do say so myself.

But for the life of me, I could not actually "build" a game from the ground up. I have absolutely no knowledge of computer programming, unfortunately.

Not better than everyone, but better than most (if you're into RTS and adventure games). And I am doing. So ask again in six months.

Also, ideas is not the bottleneck to creating good games. For every single idea you come up with, you then have years of tedious grind to create something out of it.

I could if I could code and draw :p

But besides ideas and themes the main trouble is patients, handle massive work load and work on time, its more drone work with controlled creativity than anythign else.

I suck at control >>

I know the process and when 70% of projects are released under developed buggy and to times broken...I can't blame the devs as much as the time line and the suits...........

Yes I'm sure myself, alone, could make a better game than years of work from a team of 200 people. What he hell kind of question is this?
