Did you love the old X-Wing and TIE Fighter games? Have you been waiting for more for 10+ years?

What would you like to see from a new entry? Should it still be PC-only with joystick controls, or should they bring it to consoles too?

Yes I would love a new one, and yes they should bring it to consoles.

If the game is on consoles it will probably make more money which is required if we want to see more aerial combat games in the future.

It would be FANTASTIC...

Hell, I'd settle for a new ROUGE SQUADRON...or get the team from RS to work with BattleFront so they flinging doesn't suck.
:D

I've never played TIE Fighter or X-Wing, though I've heard they're fantastic.

However, if this could also mean a new Rogue Squadron game, I'm extremely excited.

I've never played the originals of either those games mentioned in the title but I'd be down for a good Star Wars flight/combat game.

I would like one on the consoles, but if it will only be on the PC then...I guess I'll have to upgrade my computer when it comes out. Oh, the hours I spent flying through space on X-Wing...stupid Death Star mission. Lasers EVERYWHERE!!!

Well, perhaps I can brush off my Bloodstripes and load up my Interceptor for yet more glory.

Any other members of the 181st out there?

It's also one of the few genres where both PC and Consoles are equally good on controls.
...Well, at least back when we had joysticks.

Not even a new one.

Just give it a HD re-release like a few other games at the moment and then I may forgive Lucas fot the "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" at the end of Return of the Jedi.

Maybe...............unlikely though.

I played both of them (I feel old now) and would love for a remake/new one of either of those.
Well, I've got some good news if you think the series ended with Tie Fighter; there's two more games in the series. X-wing Vs. Tie Fighter was mostly just a multiplayer tech demo, and it's not worth much these days, since the online community, while still active, is exclusively locked up with clans -- I joined one for a while in high school, but I had to quit because I couldn't commit to three games a week when it takes half an hour or more to set up a 10 minute match.

That said, the other game, X-wing Alliance, mostly focused on the single player, and is well worth the purchase if you can track down a copy.

OT: I think it should be obvious from what I wrote above how I feel about this. I've been asking for a new X-wing game for over a decade -- and while we're at it, can we get a new Jedi Knight?

A (possible) new Star Wars space combat game?!

If it's done in the vein of the X-Wing/Tie Fighter games, I'll be ecstatic. Hell, I'd be happy if it was just an HD remake of Tie Fighter.

Now I'm not a PC elitist by any means, but I'd rather not see an X-Wing/Tie Fighter style game for consoles, simply because it wouldn't work without simplifying gameplay mechanics. I just can't imagine a satisfactory controller layout for the myriad of functions that the joystick/keyboard layout allowed.

That worries me, too; when was the last time that a sim was released that used literally every button on the keyboard, several of them two or three times? Because the X-Wing series did that.

Oh. My. God. I would be so incredibly happy if it was another X-Wing or Tie Fighter. I still haven't ever played Tie Fighter, actually. :(

All of the above.

What's more, the addition of online multiplay would be awesome! I can just see it now, dogfights around asteroids and star destroyers.

Again I say, there were two games after Tie Fighter, one of which was completely based around multiplayer, and the other of which featured it as a major component. It was a unique multiplayer experience, to say the least. I'd probably still be playing if the community would play with anyone aside from clan members; I don't have the time to put up with their activity requirements.
