For one, no offense I don't think most people date for serious business but recreational stuff. Now they may not need a lot of convincing to stand by their date in face of some disapproval. But I don't consider it some moral statement if someone just doesn't want to date a transexual. I realize though I'm saying this from the position of the cisgendered and a part of the process of being trans is that doubt or fear "will I ever be who I know I should be" Being denied the markers or acceptance or potential options of the gender they assume as to the sex they were born with. However my empathy extends only so far. I would not feel personally happy dating a transexual same as someone paralyzed, blind, mental ill, or even with cancer. I am exceedingly shallow wanting a partner whole and abled bodied first with no ahem history. At the least at the start.
I will say this. The sooner we get over the idea transexuals exist as some attack on your msculinity/sexual identity the better. I have shortly beleived that and for the longest part of my life not bought into it. I will admit I disagreed or disliked the idea of hormone treatments, body modification, or assuming a social role that by their admission is a social construct as a response but internet and personal interaction has told me this isn't some ... mistake or wrong thing on their part. but more critical than ANY of that is the idea they went through that whole process for a bunch of strangers just to "trick" them.
