Could you make it through an (action) video game in real life?

If you're extending me the health bar or supernatural constitution of your average action game protagonist then damn near any.
If we're talking actual blood and guts if I get shot even once, then no titles come to mind.

Since everyone already picked BioShock, I'll go with System Shock 2. I will have a couple of holes in me by the end but thanks to maxed cyber endurance I will have forgotten the meaning of the word pain. The ability to put a bullet through a grape at 200 yards with absolutely no recoil thanks to maxed small arms and a bit of psi won't hurt either. I know how to dive-roll in real life so that takes care of any subsonic projectiles coming at me, which is most of them.
If you let me have teammates (even bots!) I could do Left 4 Dead. I'm a fair hand with a shotgun or a pistol and I'm cool in emergencies. My area is fairly rural so fewer infected to begin with. In my town we have a supermarket next to a Wal-Mart next to a Home Depot. That's food, water, guns, ammo, and barricade materials. Plus, if the infected are still alive, I don't have to battle through the whole legion. I only need to make one good supply run, then hold out until thirst takes them down. Five days, tops.

I could probably make it through Dead Rising no problem for three reasons.
1. I can move and shoot at the same time.
2. I can run faster than Frank West could ever dream.
3. All I would really have to do is sit in the saferoom and wait for help for 3 days if worst came to worst.
No zombie in the game would be able to touch me. Plus, I would never get anywhere near any of the psychos.
I'm also pretty sure I could make it through Ocarina of Time because I've played through that game more times than anything else, have all of the levels down, and know the exact attack patterns of every enemy in the game. I mean, I'd probably shit my pants every time I saw a redead, but I could probably get through the game as long as I didn't get lost in the water temple (oh who am I kidding, I ALWAYS get lost in the water temple).

Well, maybe, the first game that came to my mind was Call of Duty, and if I was lucky enough to land in one of the games that at least vaguely resembles reality, I can see myself getting out with only a minimum of new holes put in me.
Well ... maybe monster hunter tri. I mean, most early monsters have really obvious tells, and if hen you get 'killed' you are rescued by cat-doctors, so there is a world-relevant means of surviving mistakes. And then, on top of that, without the game-limitations on items you could probably just stack your inventory full of duplicates (like traps, barrel bombs, flash bombs, potions, etc). And then, one more thing. given the overall survivability of the early monsters (and the cat-doctors offer a get out of jail free card so that you can avoid your final death) you could make the best armour at any stage of the game, meaning that you can fight the later monsters with appropriate physical and elemental resistances.ZeroMachine said:

If you were only allowed in-game items, and I only had my own physical abilities... eh, I'd be in trouble. I have no experience shooting guns, and I've barely ever wielded a sword- so there goes every protaganist ever. If I could be a non-main, yet still playable character, I suppose I'd be okay, 'cause I'm a pretty decent shot with a bow. Other than that... I'd be able to get through any video game that allows me to turn invisible. I'd just go invisible and run like hell.

Yeah, Wing Commander I reckon I could make it through. If the ships handle just like they do in the game, and the Kilrathi fly just as badly as they do in the game, no problem!
maybe Half-life 2, so long as I get an HEV suit. If not, I probably would get to the sewers and a) die from too many bullets or b) die just before reaching the airboat courtesy of headcrabs. If I got further, my next problem areas would be Ravenholm and the beaches, no way in hell would I wind up not stepping on the sand just to run from antlions, even in real life. I'd just stockpile health supplies and ammo.
put me in a zombie game i have spent my life prepping for a zombie apocalypse i could beat them all unless a tank shows up in l4d then i would run like hell and probably still survive because of those addicting painkillers and Adrenalin shots i could still win oh and as long as i can get the bowie knife in nazi zombies i can survive forever
Given the technology that would be at my disposal I think that I could make a fair run of things in Mass Effect. Though I'd probably bring a few more teammates with me. What, two allies you say? Commander Shepard says three or four, I think four. You know what, It'd just bring my whole squad just about everywhere and we would run shit.
I could probably make it through Portal, assuming I have the portal gun and the boots.
