And lo and behold, we're going back to D-Day and the Western Front. Sigh...

Listen to me Activision. Here's a video (see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B8KHClEGGM8&t=) I want you to watch, and if you have watched it, watch it again. I also say the same thing to EA if they ever plan on bringing back Medal of Honour.

We already did Eastern Front and Pacific plenty of times already to.

Infact there hasn't been a proper Western Front US vs Nazi Germany since Brothers in Arms Hell's Highway.

And no offense but I lost all respect to Extra Credits.

I never got what the big deal about bringing back WWI/WWII games was.

Everyone seems to expect it will force Activision and EA to revert back to the "good 'ol days" of CoD and Medal of Honor/Battlefield, but it's unlikely going to satisfy for long.

Yeah, Battlefield 1 was a pretty big hit (I can't really see why, since it really is just Battlefield 3/4 with a costume change. Okay, I CAN see why, fucking reoccuring IPs always sell more than they deserve) but eventually people will get tired of it too.

I mean, like any game, I hope it's good, but it's rare I'm surprised. Ghost Recon Wildlands surprised me for some reason (proper co-op mayhem I imagine), so maybe this will entirely reinvigorate the CoD brand!..or, even better, it will sell rather poorly, and Activision will be forced to make a new IP. But even then it will probably revolve around some lame ass trend in gaming. Or they will just get rid of the studios that they forced to make the failed Call of Duty game.

I have nothing to add to this but I remember when they were marketing Modern Warfare 3 (MW3), they did flipped the the first M so that it would say (WW3).

That was really cringey.

Not nearly as much as the Western Front. And even less than the Western Front are areas such as Italy and North Africa. And I can name only one WWII game off the top of my head that even touches on the mainland Asia front (Medal of Honour: Rising Sun).

I mean seriously, at this point in time, Operation Overlord has probably cost more virtual soldiers their lives than actual soldiers. :(

What are the four sequels gonna be called? WWII Part 2, etc?
World War III: Nuclear Bogaloo.
World War IV: The Reich Strikes Back
World War V: Hitler's Day Off
World War VI (No subtitle, just the tagline: This time, it's personal).

OT: Wow, I guess the backlash against Infinite Warfare really got to them, huh? And now they're going to fix it by...changing the wallpaper.

It probably did, but that doesn't explain this game's existence. The three dev studios of CoD each work on a three year development cycle, so work would have begun on this in 2014/'15.

Here's the picture:

I am gonna say this, I am disspointed Call of Duty is bringing back World War 2 and not Battlefield and yeah they covered World War 1 but still I much prefer a Battlefield 1944.
Have you forgot that EA used to ape what Activision did with their shooter franchise, and vice versa? I'm sure we'll get another BF in WWII setting eventually.
How did EA do that?

Also, fuck WW2. Bring BF back to the 22nd century.

I've been wanting that for years. It would take some writing skill though.. seeing as how 'WWII' is the best title they can come up with, I doubt they'd be able to pull it off heheh

I'm still looking forward to seeing what they present. I love WWII and I'd like to play a good modern game set in that time period

After all these years COD is finally going back to WWII.

No more jetpacks, sliding, laser guns, and ridiculous abilities. Just you and your good old M1 Garand

Will this win your heart back to the franchise, or is it too late?
This will make it lose mine.

What? I like the future settings. The old settings are played out by fuckin' everything, within and without the franchise. At least they were mixing up the gameplay mechanics with the futuristic settings. The WWII-era games were bland as fuck.

So...yeah. Them going back to WWII pretty much destroys ANY interest I might have in the franchise anymore.

Oh well.

2015, since Sledgehammer would've been busy with Advanced Warfare in 2014. So I guess you can just replace "Infinite" with "Advanced".

I don't know if you played Battlefield: Bad Company 2, but it was suspiciously similar to MW2. As in it had a lot of the same plot beats, was set in South America for no real reason and made a mocking references towards MW2. Too bad the game itself wasn't nearly as interesting or fun to play as MW2 was.

It's pretty much the definition of Aping right there. Why play a poor copy of MW2 when I could be playing MW2?

Such a brilliant name. They definitely took their time coming up with that title. Especially after having 3+ games in the franchise taking place in WW2. Such elegance. I'm sure it took them years to come up with such a magnificent title for the game.
Some weeks ago when the rumor about CoD returning to WWII dropped, I thought it was just a working title. Apparently, it isn't. It's serviceable, I suppose, but pretty unimaginative. Then again, it's CoD.

We need WW3 so that we can get new material for games. There isn't many key battles left that haven't been already covered by dozens of games.

A lot of those suggestions are good. And a lot of them aren't going to happen because Activision.

It's been a while since I played either campaigns, but didn't MW2 take place in the favelas, and BC2 in the jungle?

And yeah, I remember the banter, like when they jumped on their quad bikes and talked shit about snowmobiles.

Other than that, I really can't see any similarities.
Gameplay mechanics are miles apart. One's serious, the other's mostly comedy, ermm.. pretty much everything is different.

I'm slightly confused here, every WW2 CoD has had an eastern front campaign.
If there's anything CoD has been good at it is giving us different WW2 fronts.
We even ran and drove around in North Africa as brits.
