okay, I was up late and bored when I noticed this:

In particular the little bit at 0:34

I'm honestly kind of excited, but at the same time I feel a bit uneasy about cross-platform play.
I assume this means PC players vs. Console players....and I don't know if that can really work because of the difference in controls.

I don't want to start another "PC vs Console" hate-fest...but the mouse just provides better control and I don't think that console players would be able to keep up.

I want to know what you guys think.
Do you think that this cross-platform play will work?

[small]...I'm gonna get some sleep now...class in..morning....zzzzzz[/small]

I am predicting massive console autoaim.

I know Valve would get PC gamers to swear off this game if they gimped the PC controls. Considering 1.6 and CSS are still massively popular.

No matter how hard they try, this game will never be as popular as Counter Strike 1.6
It's impossible.

Not interested if console players using joypads get a load of auto aim functions, or if mouse keyboard aiming is hamstrung. Yes, it means that joypad users may get their butts handed to them but it will finally answer the question of which controller is better.

This is not a one platform being better question now and is purely a question of controllers. But I have no hate for joypad fans, I am quite happy if they make joypad only servers where you can use all the aim helper functions in, so you can happily play using it.

PS3 owners can decide whether they would want to move to mouse and keyboard, the same way they might get a wheel controller to make driving games better, or an arcade stick for fighting games. This is not a new concept after all....

Oh, forgot to say I have no problems with joypads as a controller. I use them myself for games they are appropriate for, like Assasins Creed etc. I was in no way saying that mouse and keyboard is better in all situations. In the same way I would not use steering wheel for FPS's.

I assume the balance would most likely come down to the ranked matchmaking where the ranks are scaled appropriately for PC and console gamers to balance the game play; not to mention there will be console players will be on the same team as PC so it shouldn't be that bad (hopefully). I doubt there will be any auto assists or anything especially if they kept the AWP.

Also if shit does hit the fan for console gamers I'm sure they can always just play console only matches, that way we can see if the Xbox controller is better then the PS3 controller ;p

I predict that they won't gimp the PC controls and won't give the console players any kind of real advantage except maybe a very, very slight autoaim. I DO predict that they either won't allow PS3 players to play with PC gamers in competitive mode, or they'll require a mouse and keyboard for it.

It'll be fascinating to see how this all pans out. It's pretty much just Counter Strike Source with better graphics, and it's a very minor release (XBLA/PSN only) so it's not like it's going to be a big deal if it doesn't end up working very well. But if it does work somehow it might be kinda cool.
