What, no-one's mentioned Jimi Hendrix's cover of Bob Dylan's "All Along the Watchtower"? Hell, even Dylan prefers it!

This. Its even my favorite song by Hendrix. (Or rather played by since he didnt make the song)

Well technicaly it is. The riff is completely different and he added a awesome instrumental. The only thing from the original is the lyrics, no one would have noticed it was a cover if he wrote his own lyrics for it.
